Why my mother and I are voting for Bernie

My children. My grandchildren.

Her grandchildren. Her great grandchildren.

My kids don't have multi-million dollar trust funds and don't get cushy jobs because of my last name. None of my kids are married to rich investment bankers. My kids are not part of the one percent.

My kids can't wait another 8 years of going backwards so we can elect our country's first woman president.

My mother and I fundamentally do not agree with Hillary's politics, and do not believe they will advance what is important to her and me, my children and her grandchildren's future.

If putting my children and grandchildren's future ahead of electing the first woman president means I'm not a feminist, then so be it.

You can call me a humanist.

Better still, call me a mother, instead. It is the title I wear most proudly, anyway.
