(31,935 posts)It was a 3pm rally but organizers advertised it as starting at noon. And it was held in a (very hot and sunny) open field in Kissimmee, a smaller, very redneck town South of Orlando with horrid driving conditions. 4,000 did show up, though (I'm sure it would have been 4x that if it were held on and evening or weekend in Orlando). A cop there told me "Everyone at this event has been so nice! Not like that Trump rally we worked recently. Those people were NOT so nice!"

(88,117 posts)The Tampa one was advertised for 4, but really wasn't until 7.
Probably discouraged some from going.

(31,935 posts)they had bands playing at earbleed levels for hours before it started. I think that caused some of the older people and those with kids to leave before that rally started. They advertised food and drinks for sale at the event, but they only had one water table and one wood fired pizza tent, each with three workers. The lines were insanely long for each. With all the food trucks around here, it wouldn't have taken much effort to get a fleet of them to line up there. There was no excuse for the painfully loud music (so bad that even my friend who has regular rock concerts in her house couldn't handle it), or the organizers neglect for writing "event begins at noon" instead of "Doors open at noon. Event begins at 3pm". Sadly *every* Dem event that I've attended over the past 25 years here has been similarly poorly handled. We really need better local organizers!

(88,117 posts)Yes, better organization. Just remember those that many of these are newbies to politics. The experienced FL Dems are nearly all Hillary folks.

(24,010 posts)He smacks Trump upside the head, and has a beautiful conclusion about "love trumping hatred." I quote more of it at that DU link.

(88,117 posts)We don't see anything about Bernie on TV and his name is not mentioned on newscasts except quickly and casually after a debate or something.
A couple of the local stations really enjoyed the rally and excitement....they were like so surprised!
