Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThe Media just got serious about stacking the deck against Bernie ?
A couple weeks ago MSNBC Chris Mathews was talking about Bernie and he addressed him as a Democratic Socialist
gave him praise for raising hell about income equality etc.. He talked about Hillary and her big "Show" on Sat, in Iowa.He ran a couple videos of out takes and my goodness if Hillary would have been there in the studio I believe he would have kissed her feet.
NBC (the Right Wing owned Comcast) actually covered her event.
So instead of all the positive things Mathews had to say a couple weeks earlier about Bernie, he criticized him as some kind of modern day Robin Hood that wants to take from the rich and give to the poor. He didn't say anything about Bernie's college tuition stance or Health Care or the TPP just the Robin Hood theme over and over while praising Hillary over and over, which was unlike his comment a couple weeks ago when he talked as if Hillary was old news.
I have noticed this with the evening liberal hosts (MSNBC) they toned down their positive comments about Bernie.
I wont even get into the other networks because in most cases as far as they are concerned Bernie is still in Vermont.
This is terrible because if our political system has come to this its shameful among other comments I would add but wont.
So MSNBC must have gotten the memo about toning down their comments about Berne and building up Hillary.
Now they are saying Hillary won the social media war over the week-end but again I think that came from "to the right" network.

(14,733 posts)Got his own Disney animal movie, multiple other movies, fights injustice and a rigged and oppressive system to help the 'little people'.
If Tweety thinks that's a put-down, I think he's going to be surprised.

(25,263 posts)That's what the younger voters utilize. I read in another thread yesterday that Bernie is resonating with the young voters. No BS - and they like the fact that he is giving it to them straight and not ducking questions like all the other candidates.
So if the MSM is out to sink Bernie - whether directly or subliminally - all the 'social media' capabilities need to be utilized to there fullest extent to help Bernie.
Take Bernie Viral!!!!!!

(6,994 posts)the way it was back in the 60's with JFK ,Humphreys campaign and remember how bad a lot of voters hated Johnson but the alternative was scary. Yes that was before elections were owned by the corporate mafia but the thing about our politics of today, Wall St and the corporate mafia didn't steal our political system, it was given to them by both Democrats and Republicans .The big corporate swing came when Hillary's husband was able to reap corporate benefits while pushing NAFTA and gave banks the license to steal
with the death of the GlassSteagall act.
He cozied up to the unions while at the same time made us think NAFTA was best thhing since the seven day miracle.
Bernie Sanders is talking about issues that should have been talked about for sure in 1984 when the trickle down economics were proven to be nothing but a billionaires/millionaires dream

(32,887 posts)He knows, he sees it. He's been fighting it in Washington his whole political career. We have got to spread the message, and mobilize like we've never done before. It's the only way. Take heart.... We've only begun to fight.

(14,255 posts)My 20 YO Extreme Redditor grandson (he says Reddit loves Bernie!) spent the weekend at a friend's place, birthday stuff, and he and a couple of other guys went to see the new Avengers movie. 100 stars! Awesome! was the verdict. After the movie, they went somewhere for pizza, and grandson started talking about Bernie. The birthday guy is already on board, the other guy started reading about Bernie right then, on Reddit, and said he had no idea politics was so interesting, and that yeah, he was registered to vote, but never really gave it any thought - but now, voting for Bernie is what he intends on doing.
The Avengers is Awesome! contingent does not care about labels, they just believe Bernie is a straight shooter, they like that he does not come across as Establishment, and they feel he understands what is wrong and what needs to be fixed. No, they are not naive, and know that Bernie is not Gandalf with a magic staff. But they are also sure he is not a sell-out Sauron, which is how a lot of the younger folks regard politics these days.
Yep. Anecdotal as hell. But, each vote counts. Yesterday my Jehovah's Witness buddy stopped by. She knows I am NOT religious, but we like to chat about things. Like how much better health care is in her native Germany was yesterday's topic. So, when we were done talking about that, I said hey, let me talk to you about Bernie Sanders. Don't know if it helped, she is more of a well, god will fix everything when he gets here kind of person, but I reminded her that she should vote for Bernie anyway, just in case.

(4,458 posts)people (and growing) who no longer watch and/or take seriously, MSM...Does it still make any noise?
There is no shortage of articles addressing the Shrinking MSM market. None. If fewer and fewer watch, listen, believe and pay attention...what sort of media impact can or should we be prepared for?
If media continues to refuse to deliver content in the best interest of the peoples interests......shunning always works.

(3,544 posts)Our politicians AND media are bought and paid for by the 1%. Soon they will control the elections, unless we get people out there like Bernie Sanders to stand up for us, and what is truly RIGHT about this country.
As for social media, this is probably the only way Bernie will win. It's the one few places that the 1% cannot control. I hope Bernie's name spreads like wildfire. His numbers have been unbelievable, based on when he first declared. I am telling everyone I know about Bernie. I know in my heart he is the chosen one. If we don't take this country back at this next election, I fear for our future, being controlled by an oligarchy. It's coming, if he loses.

I've noticed that even The Ed Show and Rachel have toned down their comments against Hillary and against Obama and the TPP.
So I guess if a producer came to them as said "they want you to tone it down a little" I suppose they tone it down or go by the way of
Olbermann.
One thing I noticed to is I think it was obvious that questions to Tweety's guests were scripted. Especially David Axle..whats his face...
made certain they he put those little dibs in there about Bernie and being unelectable..
They report that Hillary has such a huge lead in Iowa that doesn't make any sense compared to the crowds Bernie has drawn so far but we will see again today because I think he is in Iowa again but not sure...
On edit: Polling I keep remembering what pollster Zogby said several times over the years. If a poll that's has less than a sampling number of at least 1000-1500 it really cant be considered accurate and the geographical area of any state also make a difference of course.
So if a Network wants to have a poll taken and they want it done in a certain area than it's not creditable . They could sample 50 voters (they never give the sampling numbers) and give them the results and they are not lying because after all it is a poll.
I believe Bernie is polling better than being reported .. would certainly be much better if a good scientific poll was conducted.

(3,431 posts)As long as more and more people hear and agree with
his message, and the media ignore him, the less will he
be attacked, not even from the right. This gives Bernie
time to concentrate on the voters and his message without
diversions.
And more and more voters like him and feel the Bern.
