Michigan Nurses Association Endorses Sen. Bernie Sanders for President 02.15.2016
Nurse leaders unanimously endorse Sanders plans to create Medicare for All address income inequality, and restore our democracy
The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA), which represents more than 11,000 Registered Nurses, is proud to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders for president of the United States. University of Michigan Health System Registered Nurse Katie Scott announced the MNA endorsement as part of the Sanders rally in Ypsilanti on Monday.
Nurses and Bernie agree that health care is a human right, and he is the only candidate who has made a commitment to Medicare for All, said Scott. Facing a life-threatening illness or injury is scary enough. In America, no one should be terrified of facing bankruptcy because they get sick.
Sanders is also a sponsor of federal legislation to establish minimum nurse to patient ratios in all hospitals, which illustrates his commitment to patient safety over hospital profits.
