IS THE TIDE TURNING? Bernie Meets Rev. Sharpton in NYC, Ben Jealous and Jane Sanders Attend

Rev. Al Sharpton met with presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders at well known soul food site Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem, NY yesterday morning. Ben Jealous and Jane Sanders attended and had breakfast while Rev. Sharpton and Bernie were meeting.

Check out the fun crowds outside the restaurant, and the press conference by Rev. Sharpton after the event.

1. I don't know that I'd count too heavily on an endorsement from Sharpton

Based on his body language in that second picture it appears that he's lecturing Sen. Sanders on the error of his ways.

And that seems to be one of the goal posts set up in place for him to cross.

and most public figures about very important matters and elections. Commenter didn't watch clips, just saw the picture. Sharpton' style is well known and animated at times. The place looks popular, food must be great.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Fresh off his primary win in New Hampshire, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders met with the Rev. Al Sharpton over breakfast Wednesday morning in New York City.
Supporters cheered as Sharpton greeted Sanders with a hug when he arrived at the famed Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem shortly before 10 a.m. It’s just so exciting to see him,” Sanders supporter Kathy Selleck told CBS2’s Andrea Grymes. “I believe in him so much.”

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Sharpton said they discussed a variety of topics.
“I asked him very bluntly about Flint, I asked him very bluntly about affirmative action, I asked him about the issues of police brutality and police misconduct,” he said. Sharpton said Sanders’ visit shows that minorities will not be ignored, WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported.

“I think it is very important that he sent the signal that on the morning after a historic victory, it’s the widest margin we’ve seen in the history of New Hampshire, that he come to Harlem and have breakfast with me,” Sharpton said.
Sanders did not speak with reporters and Sharpton said he hasn’t made an endorsement and won’t until he meets with Hillary Clinton.

The Vermont senator swept to victory in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primaries, gathering a majority of votes from men, independents and voters under 45, as well as a slim majority of women.

Sanders mentioned in his victory speech Tuesday night that he was heading to New York, but didn’t give specifics.
“I am going to New York City tonight and tomorrow, but I am not going to New York City to hold a fundraiser on Wall Street,” Sanders told his supporters. “I’m going to hold a fundraiser right here, right now across America.”

>Tuesday night’s win for Sanders completes his rise from presidential long shot to legitimate challenger for the Democratic nomination against Hillary Clinton.
The candidates are now looking ahead to the next contest in South Carolina, where there’s a more diverse electorate — something experts say favors Clinton.

6. Sharpton like other leaders is naturally making sure his serious concerns

and people's votes are understood and valued by ALL political candidates including Sanders, if you watched the video of his press conference outside after the meeting. Also, during the press and crowd gathering, endorser Ben Jealous was beside Rev. Al who POINTED HIS FINGER!, spoke and gestured firmly to all there to emphasize his points, as shown in the tape. I wouldn't be too frightened by Sharpton's body language and well known style, and whichever candidate he decides to endorse is his decision.

And things are definitely picking up lately in terms of recognition, support and endorsement for Bernie by notable and regular black Americans, and millions of others including women, young people, workers and seniors particularly after his major wins, "this historic victory" as Sharpton said, and Bernie's spectacular fundraising ability.

Ben Jealous for example, who was invited to attend the event, just endorsed Bernie this week, prominent black intellect and writer Ta-Nehisi Coates did two days ago, and today Harry Belafonte the legendary civil rights activist and artist endorsed Bernie, like many others of all backgrounds have already spoken publically. Be positive about how things are changing for the better and the significant meeting with Sharpton.

3. I don't think Sharpton will endorse either way. He has a TV show and needs to be "impartial." This

was more of a friendly breakfast kind of thing. It might be of significance that Sharpton met with Sen. Obama for breakfast in the same restaurant in 2008.

No doubt in my mind.. Remember, he's also part of the corrupt corporate owned MSM. He works for Comcast.

I would be thrilled to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

I thought he was cancelled the same time Ed Schultz was cancelled from MSNBC.

Yesterday in a thread, I got told that Rev. Al (because he was meeting with Bernie) now had no cred with the AA community and that he doesn't represent...cause ya know, he had invited Bernie to come.

I'm pretty sure he'll endorse Clinton...though I don't know how that's allowed since he works on a news network. I remember Olbermann was suspended for campaign donations to 3 candidates, so I'm not sure how Sharpton can endorse a candidate now.
