Jane Sanders, the wife of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), on Wednesday said she found former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's comments urging female voters to support Hillary Clinton "disturbing."
Albright over the weekend told young women that it was important for them to support Clinton's presidential bid as feminists, saying, "Theres a special place in hell for women who dont help each other!"
"I found them unfortunate and disturbing," Jane Sanders told HuffPost Live about Albright's comments. "I think that women today are a little bit more intelligent to say to not say, 'Okay, all I care about is gender.' By that case, then, if Bernie won the Democratic nomination and Carly Fiorina won the Republican nomination, we should be supporting Carly Fiorina."

"She apologized.(Steinem) I know that young people were offended by it, but it was a mistake," Jane Sanders said on Wednesday. "That's what I don't like about politics too much, that somebody makes a misstatement. We know her life has been about equity for women and feminism. She made a mistake, she said so. I absolutely still respect her very much."

(1,021 posts)I disagree slightly about the Steinem part, even though Jane is making a classy move here. I mean, I know she apologized, but she was practically handed the chance to walk it back at the moment she first said it, and didn't.
Jane's comment about Fiorina is right on the money.

(687 posts)Class shows when there is no class.
Politics in every era is rough and tumble and it is easy to think your own era is the nastiest. But even by historical standards, this Season of Trump is up there with the worst. Bernie and Jane really stand out as exceptions right now. Jane was neither polished nor "clever" in this little chat. She was real and she was nice -- and most of all, reasonable.
Class indeed shows in this time of the Clown Car and the Kitchen Sink.
