Question about taxes

Talking to my daughter who is in military through her officer hubby for last 15 yrs. she said we don't pay insurance premiums so will our taxes be raised anyway?

I said I bet they would make exceptions for military since most are not paid that much anyway.

They are moderate republicans who like none of the ones running and don't like Hillary just worried about taxes with Bernie.

I am just thrilled they are checking him out.

Their taxes would probably go up... hoosierlib Feb 2016 #1
It would be a 2.2% payroll tax for them. Warren Stupidity Feb 2016 #2
If the premiums are now paid by DoD, I presume DoD would pick up enrollment cost. Costs less too. PSPS Feb 2016 #3

Unless they carved out active duty military. Bernie was mentioned of replacing TriCare (along with other private health insurance) with a 6.3% increase in payroll taxes, so anything is possible.

That being said, I would tell them its either a universal system (like Bernie is proposing) or a drastic increase in taxes or massive cuts to retirees in 15 to 20 years. The same applies to Social Security...
