CoffeeCat Appreciation Thread!!!

Let's give it up for CoffeeCat and her/his tireless dedication to working to nominate Bernie in Iowa and her/his regular and informative updates on the situation and progress there.

Here is a link to the current GREATEST OP on DU by her/him:

If you haven't read it yet, please do. It brought tears to my eyes. I really think this is going to happen thanks to these kinds of efforts by volunteers.

THANK YOU COFFEECAT FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING!!! YOU ROCK!!!

FEEL THE BERN!!!

I canvassed in Nevada few weeks ago and there is nothing like traveling to help Bernie and visiting other offices, so when you talk about inviting people in your home reminds me of that weekend.

And i just moved from a caucus state, for people that have never done it, hard to understand how exciting it is too be present with your vote, not just paper.

I am only doing what any of you would do--if you lived in the state where the Bernie campaign is in full force with an impending election day! (Monday can't come soon enough, I tell ya!)

Very soon, those of you in other states will be doing the same as I did--reporting awesome news from the Bernie front lines. I look forward to reading all of those posts.

It has been my pleasure to spread the word about what is happening in Iowa. So much great news and enthusiasm was NOT being reported. As we all know, a great deal of spin and disinformation is reported too--and it was nice to be able to dispel some of that.

Thanks again for this fun thread. I was shocked when I saw it!!

Send positive vibes to Iowa guys. This is tight. It really is. I do believe that The Iowa Poll is the "gold standard" and that Selzer's poll reflects not a perfect prediction of what will happen on caucus night, but it tells us where things are. It's close. Very close. And it all comes down to turnout and getting our supporters to the caucuses. I assure you, we are working hard in my area and across the state to get those voters there.

I've been to the rallies. I've seen (and felt) the enthusiasm. I know those rally attendees (and many other people who believe in Bernie) will show up to caucus. They know what's at stake. They know that Bernie is a once-in-a-lifetime candidate. They know we're at a crossroads. There's lots of reason to have hope. Bernie can win this.

I will be reporting, as much as I can, from our caucus site. It may be difficult, but I will at least try to post a short description of what the room looks like. Remember, I am in a very conservative suburb of Des Moines. We think we can win here and things really do look great, but it will be tight. I'm only one of 1680 Iowa precincts, but I'll be happy to report what is going on.

If you're interested in further reading, I wrote this DU post last night because I see many suggesting that Bernie has the three Iowa major university towns locked up, but it's not enough because those areas only garner 21 percent of the total delegates in Iowa. That point is only part of the Bernie Iowa story. He's got a comprehensive Iowa strategy. I think you'll find additional "glimmers" in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=1100660

Thanks again for the kind words and encouragement everyone!!! Go Bernie!!!!!!!!

I wish I had done more... I attended the Rose Bowl Parade march where there were lots of Iowans but I wanted to do a bunch of phone banking after that but work and a prior commitment of babysitting my friend's 2.5 year old for a weekend (!) got in the way. I'll make it up on Nevada, maybe I'll even head out there!

Followed your link to that other post. I agree that they are miscalculating the young vote. I heard someone talking about how Bernie is working to get the college students back to their home towns to spread out their influence. That when Obama ran against Hillary it was during a break so many students were already home and that helped him out.

That thread is funny in a sad way. Hillary supporters so 'concerned' that college students don't risk driving in bad weather yet they support someone who doesn't think twice about sending them off to die in a war.

Omg... I'm going to be on pins and needles tomorrow. But I really do believe he will win it.

I think we have the momentum and the enthusiasm. I have a very good feeling going into this.

I'm nervous too! When you care so much, that's what happens.

And there is no bad weather forecast for caucus night. A big storm starts at about midnight and will worsen throughout Tuesday. Clear skies forecast during the caucus.

It's almost as if some are hoping for a snow tsunami!

Have fun at your caucus! Let me know how it goes!
