Well, kiddos--when I was your age, you would not believe the crap we smoked.

Yessiree by cracky, marijuana used to have seeds in it. And stems. And sometimes oregano or marjoram or PCP. Indica vs sativa?? Whuzzat about?

As a retired analytical chemist, I'm very glad to see THC and CBD content listed on my legal WA weed. Some medical pot assays (though not many medical shops have them) list the gammas, CBN and CBC, plus complete terpene profiles. I keep emailing the liquor control board about this, but haven't gotten any answers.

because nothing was happening. Then, I woke up tripping in the middle of the night.

It wasn't LSD trip you brains out tripping, it was waving liquid atmosphere and body sensations tripping.

I never tried it again, because I just didn't think it was worth the effort. But I did put a lot of pre-internet research and detective work into the psychedelic properties of nutmeg. Apparently there's a substance called myristicin (I can still spell it all these years later.)

My research led me to oil of nutmeg, probably a concentrated myristicin-containing substance. I never really went deep enough into oil of nutmeg to try it out and see what it would do.

Plastic baggies to hold an ounce of pot?

BTW, we measured out our "bud" in fingers high, not ounces, grams or any kind of weight.
The guy I got mine from had some really beefy hands, he had a huge customer base. Big fingers equaled more pot!

Answer to my question for where I was....
Folded aluminum foil, handmade envelopes made from newspaper or a like sort of paper. Usually found a "loose" joint or two in the bottoms of my jeans pocket. Had to "shake" it out, remove the lint and cookie crumbs then have a good time.

And, sadly, even the newer plastic ones have gone the way of the dodo bird, what with digital photography everywhere.

There'd probly be a specialty market for little weed containers, but I suppose the head shops already carry something like that.

I can remember "dime" bags. I remember when four of us would go in on a $20 bag - $5 per person - and then we were REALLY gonna be living it up that night. A $20 bag was a BIG deal back in the early '70s.

Usually they were pretty fair about charging less for lower quality--not determined by analytical chemistry, but by the dealer smoking some and noting how much it took to get a desirable high.

Stems, leaves, the works, mashed into a brick of weed. $200CDN.
You pulled out the stems and bagged it.
It wasn't "bud", that's for damn sure.

It either did the trick or you were ostracised for the burn.

I think a lot of the reminiscing of geezers munges a lot of different factors, the first and most important being that they were young then, and let me reiterate that. It counts. Others being that electric music was just invented, that there was an alternative culture opposed to the Vietnam war was certainly a social factor == but as for the pot, the only thing distinctive about it is that some dealers could figure the difference between a male and female plant, on a good day.

in Houston in 1973, we'd pay $10-40 for an ounce of regular Mexican. Acapulco Gold could be had for $80 oz, which priced it out of our usual range.

Never had a problem finding a supply. Hashish was usually around. All sorts of other things too: uppers, downers, often mushrooms, peyote buttons, even acid.

Those were the days. Long time gone.
