Senator Wyden favors hemp!

This is a fantastic speech by Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon in support of removing the definition of hemp as marijuana which it currently is defined as in the Controlled Substance Act. Wyden gives details on what this crop could do for our farmers and our economy right here in America instead of importing it as we do now.

I really like Wyden.

edit...I goofed. I was mixing him up with Waxman. I don't know why, I do this all the time. I am glad Wyden is a dem but I really like Merkely for Oregon. I don't agree with Wyden on too many issues.

do you think you can talk him out of his effing position on the TPP?

Hopefully this will be his last term EVER!

I didn't know he favored TPP. I'm sure he's been wrong on some other issues as well, but for the most part, he's been a pretty good advocate for liberal policies.

Or maybe I just need to pay more attention.

I like Merkley better, but I'm in Walden's district and that really bugs me.

Did he not come to your area (you are in Oregon, right?) and try to sell the TPP to you? He came here and told us that we must support the TPP because of................................Blueberries.

I shit you not. He really did say that. That's all he had to convince us that the TPP was a MUST have. It's too bad the room was so dark, I would have loved to take a picture of the faces every time he said Blueberries.

So, no...he did not come to my town to support TPP. I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but I hope he got some pushback from your audience.

have to do with whether or not Wyden went to your town? Is it because your rep is a repub?

Wyden definitely got pushback from us. And he seemed surprised that we did not believe his spiel. Personally I have had a problem w/Wyden since he co-wrote Medicare D for * in 2003.

Thankfully there is a group that has formed to find a candidate to challenge him in 2016.

They don't have time to do that. I've been here 18 years and have never heard of another rep from another district visiting here.

Has Walden been to your town?

BTW, I didn't know Wyden co-wrote Medicare part D either. That sinks him for me. At least he's a dem, but I am eligible for Medicare and refuse to participate in part D because of the way it was donel That has not been in my favor financially, but it really really pissed me off.

but then, being in this group, it's understandable. lol

Wyden is a senator, therefore he is supposed to visit the entire state, as well as Jeff Merkley.

One thing that I have found helpful in keeping "who voted how" straight is "megatevote". It sends you an email w/the results of key votes from your senators and rep. Sign up here: http://congress.org/congressorg/megavote/ .

I just edited my first post. It's not Wyden I was thinking of, I was mixing him up with Waxman, from Cali (retired). I always mix up those two names.
