Discussion- ending militarization of police, police brutality and gov sanctioned murder by LEO.

X posted from GD.

I truly believe this is one of the biggest problems facing us. It is the arm of the oligarchy to keep us under control. It is allowing human rights violations beyond belief, including actual torture, incarceration at rates that are unheard of and, of course, outright murder.

The man behind the tortures in Chicago is actually receiving a pension

I am cross posting here because I believe that this is just another issue that doesn't seem to fit in with the current party agenda

But the problem goes much deeper than that.

But definitely something that has to be changed

Yes, indeed. We need to explore the monster behind the litany of outrage. Technology has given the people a collective all-seeing eye with which to view the raw footage of our society. It is deeply disturbing that the first thing we plainly see is this well oiled death machine. More disturbing still, is that minority communities across the nation have been talking about the depths of this depravity for decades...it's time to open this forum, and listen to those who best know the "cop on the beat". And maybe apologise for turning a deaf ear to all the beating.

There's a fairly good number of ideas in the GD. Post. You should add this there.

public office. The militarization of the police is simply not acceptable in a country that continues to call itself a 'democracy'.

Who are they accountable to? Over 5, 000 Americans have been murdered by the police since 9/11, making the police a bigger threat to Americans, especially POC and the poor and mentally ill, than any terrorist group in foreign nations.

To allow this carnage to continue, to ignore the threat these out of control though 'protected' armed forces pose to Americans cannot be allowed to continue.

I know that the Ferguson leaders have put together quite a list of things that have to be changed. I am hoping we can use ideas here to help do what they want done.

As far as this being something that candidates should be talking about, who is? Of the current presidential candidates and those that still may run. None that I know of
