Pope Paul VI to be beatified October 19; will be one step closer to sainthood

Pope Francis has approved the promulgation of the decree for the cause of beatification of his predecessor Pope Paul VI. The approval was announced Saturday.

The beatification ceremony is scheduled to take place October 19, 2014, at the conclusion of the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the family.

It made me wonder whether the current pope is trying to reform it into something with less mystical significance. Perhaps something based more on more mundane things than miracles?

Mea culpa. Sorry, but I never could warm to the guy. Had a run in with him during the fall of '67. For some reason, he had a problem with me camping in St. Peter's Square. According to the Monsignor he sent to evict me, his main objection was to the Union Jack we were flying from a tank antenna on the roof of our camper.

That is pushing the cause of Vince Lombardi for sainthood.

When my wife and I heard about it, we spent a few minutes trying to picture the church of St. Vincent Lombardi. The predominating colors are, of course, green and gold. There is a stained glass behind the altar, based on this picture



There shall be seven blocks of granite somewhere in the church.

10. He started out coaching at St. Cecilia's High School in Englewood, New Jersey.

My aunt was a church secretary in that parish. I should go over there some day and see if a Postulator's been snooping around.
