House subcommittee scuttles more gun control bills

“After lengthy, tearful testimony from victims of domestic gun violence and passionate rebuttals by Second Amendment advocates, a subcommittee of the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety defeated a proposal designed to protect victims of domestic abuse from gun violence by keeping guns out of the hands of violent offenders.
The panel also rejected proposals that would have made it a Class 1 misdemeanor to knowingly authorize a child age 4 or younger to use a firearm and that would have prohibited the sale or transfer of more than three large-capacity magazines.”

Can't abridge the 2nd amendment rights of wife beaters and three yearolds can we. Sick motherfuckers.

VIRGINIA HOUSE SUBCOMITTEE DEALS A BLOW TO WOMEN’S SAFETY

“Despite riveting testimony from Lisette Johnson—who was shot five times by her abusive husband in Chesterfield County—and others personally affected by gun violence, the House Militia, Police and Public Safety voted down HB 2085 this evening. The bill sought to prohibit those convicted of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence, sexual battery, and stalking from purchasing and possessing firearms. “

After the senate negotiated in good faith with the gun rights Republicans agreeing on a bill that even the largest state gun rights group didn't oppose the house chose not to take up the bill. Cowardly bastards.

“This is a great day for anyone who beats up their spouses and children,” said Lori Haas, Virginia State Director for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) and Virginians for Responsible Gun Laws (VRGL). “They can rest assured that the House of Delegates is protecting their ‘right’ to remain armed and dangerous.”
