Gun nuts threaten boycott of Colorado over new gun control laws

Gun nuts threaten boycott of Colorado over new gun control laws. Good. Let them stay home.

The overwhelming gaggle of rabid right-wingers, homophobes, racists, bigots and bitter over-reactionaries who dominate the National Rifle Association and other pro-gun groups are upset with Colorado, a state with the guts to enact some new gun-control laws.

They are promising to boycott the state over not only the new legislation on gun control but also a legislative move Tuesday to legalize same-sex civil unions in the Rocky Mountain region of the nation.

Good. Let them stay home. Colorado – and any other state in the union — is better off if these nutcases stay home....

Hunting and fishing generate $1.8 billion, supporting 20,614 jobs statewide each year. In the state’s top five wildlife-dependent counties, hunting and fishing account for between 5 percent and 12 percent of total jobs.

"gun-toter" revenue isn't insignificant in this state.

Some hunters may be gun nuts as well, but most of them do not fit the definition of what we are refering to when we are talking about gun nuts. The term gun nut is subjective, but there are lots of terms that are subjective. People may disagree on who the term gun nut applies to, but I would say anyone who parrots NRA talking points and pretends that swimming pools and guns are the same thing is a gun nut. Anyone who thinks George Zimmerman acted appropriately is a gun nut. Anyone who makes any type of statement such as "pry it from my cold dead hands" or suggests using their guns to fight against the government is a gun nut. Yes the term gun nut is subjective, so are many other terms in the English language that I am sure you use regularly. Just because the term gun nut is subjective however does not mean that there not people who clearly qualify as gun nuts.

tolerance for cultural differences, and how many here (as everywhere) believe they are in the majority mindset because they are outside of these culturally different circles..having lived in areas dependent on hunting tourism most of my life, people who aren't in touch can't fathom the enormity of this or understand the belief systems of those who do participate in these activities..they like to pretend everyone is just like they are..and those who aren't are the nuts..

Not all gun owners are gun nuts, those who advocate for shoot outs in public places are nuts however and they have no tolerance for those of us who don't want their so-called "protection".

The main talking point is "if only there were a good guy with a gun", when people advocate for a "good guy with a gun" returning fire they are advocating public shoot outs. You are probably right that they are a small minority, but they are a very loud and vocal minority and their ranks include the NRA leadership.

vs. reality. I have known many with concealed carry permits and few who wish to protect you. Every state has the basic premise that concealed carry is for self defense of the carrier and those they are in charge of. Concealed carry doesn't include police work and those people know it. If your ridiculous caricature had any basis in fact, the millions of concealed carriers in 49 states with concealed carry, would be creating the fabled rivers of blood espoused for so many years until it actually became obvious that it was fiction...anyone saying it labeled a clown.

My grandfather was a big-time hunter. (Not the African safari kind, but the deer, turkey & quail kind). He was also a very sincere conservationist, and he and the family ate most of the game he killed.

He owned guns all his life, and was an enthusiastic hunter. He was overjoyed when I finally went hunting with him. (I was sleepy and my feet hurt. ) He was in no way a gun nut, and if he were alive today I feel sure he would be completely disgusted by the gun-humpers and 2nd Amendment obsessives.

Hunters aren't gun nuts. The gun nuts seem to share the same dysfunctional fetish that mixes violence, death, guns and sexual excitement together. Declarations about the manhood of individual gun owners are derived from type, size and number of tools of death owned by the fetish holder. The manufacturers are aware of the power that this type of dysfunctional sexual fixation has over gun nuts- they reinforce this twisted sexual dysfunction through the use of scantily-clad models, carressing and clutching guns in a sensual manner- in advertising and at gun shows. I can understand the reluctance of the gun fetishist to admit to the sickness of thier sexual fixation- they don't want the rest of the world to be aware of the extent of the death and pain caused by gun nuts in the name of a sick sexual need or fantasy.
Why do extremists like the NRA and it's members insist that America give these irresponsible and dangerously twisted individuals unfettered access to any gun?
Ted Nugent continues to lead the struggle for pedophiles to be well armed, so I guess it's no surprise.

Let me see, do I want armed nuts shooting wherever they want, or do I want to have a couple of bucks maybe trickle down? Do I want to risk the lives of neighbors, friends, and children by having my state cater to the most dangerous gun owners or are a few dollars more important?
I think I'll pass.
When they claim to be hunters and fishermen, they are liars. The gun worshipers do not participate in shooting sports. The sport is not the point, the shooting is. Only the weapon matters, not what it is used for. Safety of others does not matter, only the gun does.

The absence of gun nuts will make it an even nicer place.

Hey, maybe the fundies in Colorado Springs will move to Alabama or someplace? (no offense to anyone from Alabama ... )
