Gun Safety Policies Save Lives
Which states have the ideal laws to prevent gun violence?

We compared gun policy across the country, scoring every state on the strength of its gun laws and comparing it with its rate of gun violence. In states where elected officials have taken action to pass gun safety laws, fewer people die by gun violence. Choose a state to see how it stacks up on 50 key policies, or explore a policy to see how much of the country has adopted it.

Against the odds and in the aftermath of major mass shooting tragedies--from Columbine to Aurora theater shooting, the King Sooper Boulder massacre, and plenty of others in between and after--has tried to enact effective laws. However, Eastern Plains and Western Slope conservatives and libertarians have tried hard ever since to overturn or prevent their being enforced. And as one who has had to frequently commute I-25, encountering the arrogant aggressive driver with a gun is always on my mind. sigh...

Before you can get a gun in France you have to undergo medical and psychological evaluations. It cuts down on the concept of arming the left side of the mental health bell curve.

In the States, we arm the left side of the mental health bell curve because every mass shooting causes gun sales to go up, which profits the gun industry so much that they can buy senators and congressmen. They in turn refuse to do the things to limit gun sales to the left side of the mental health bell curve.....and the cycle continues.

It's all thoughts and prayers until it's your son or daughter.
