DU Community Help
Related: About this forumWant to say HI and introduce myself
I have been a long time reader, but have just recently done any posting. My name is Uwe Pickering.
I live in Carrollton, Texas, which is in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. This is the most conservative
area of Texas. I have lived here for 16 years. The politics are disgusting and Texas is one of the
most backward states. Texas has been on the wrong side of every social issue since it became a
state (slavery, civil rights, human rights, gay and lesbian rights, marriage equality, etc). The Latino and
African American community have been so repressed that they struggle to make ends meet and pay
little attention to politics. There appears to be no other reason that the Republicans are so dominant
in this state. Anyway, hello and I hope to express myself on this site more often.
Welcome to DU!
In case you didn't know, there's a DU Texas forum you might like to visit from time to time to commiserate with your fellow Texans.

It's good to be among progressives here at DU. Enjoy!
