being harrassed by another member

This discussion thread was locked by EarlG (a host of the DU Community Help forum).

I am being hounded by another member into other threads where they are following me and misrepresenting a post of mine as white supremacist though it could in no way be construed as such.

It is getting to be extremely creepy and I am not sure what I can do besides alerting. But seemingly every post I make they follow me and continue.

Here is one of the posts https://www.democraticunderground.com/100218410534

The community can decide what to do, but nothing can happen until there's an alert. It's weird to do that, I know, but being stalked is not right. Maybe a pm to the admins?

I think if you dig into the website, you should be able to PM the admins.
Please don't despair.

But I agree about trying EarlG. He was quite prompt in helping me with a less creepy issue a couple days ago.

from one thread to another - then the slander and harassment (as OP describes it) continue to be promulgated. So, with and 'ignore' - OP doesn't see it - but the rest of DU continues to be subjected. Not entirely satisfactory.

11. Two things...

1. Put the person on Full Ignore
Long way to that...
●Go to your stuff in the upper right hand corner.

●In the lower right corner click on Account Settings.

●In the middle of the right hand column you'll see Ignore List which is right above Trash Can.
Click on Ignore List.

●You'll see this...

Add a member to your Ignore List
DU members on your Ignore List will be hidden from your view when browsing the site. Members are not notified if you add them to your Ignore List. To add a member, begin by entering at least the first three characters of their username in the box below, then click "Find member":

Enter full or partial username and find member.

●And you'll see this...
Ignore Options
You can select one of two ways to add members to your Ignore List:

Block mail
Selecting this option prevents another member from sending DU Mail messages to your inbox. If they try to send you a DU Mail message, they will be informed that your inbox is unavailable. You may use this option on an unlimited number of members. (Note: this only applies to DU Mail; it does not affect your regular email.)

Full ignore
Selecting this option prevents you from seeing another member. While logged in, you will not be able to see any of their posts or replies to their posts. This option includes Block Mail -- whether you are logged in or not, the member will not be able to send you DU Mail messages. You may use this option on an unlimited number of members.

Short way...
Go to the poster's profile...
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=profile&uid=369570
On the right under Recommendations you will find the Ignore button. Click it and it will take you to...

How would you like to manage your interactions with [Redacted]?

prevent them from seeing or responding to your post. You just don’t see their OPs or responses to other posts, including yours.

I think DU should not allow members to respond to posts made by those who have them on ignore. I think the logic of the current status is probably not wanting members to know if they’re on an ignore list. But in the current atmosphere of social media, I think that is misguided.

20. Please don't start threads calling out other members, even in this forum
Mon Oct 30, 2023, 08:49 AM
Oct 2023

Even if you believe another member is breaking the rules, it's not appropriate to start threads publicly calling them out.

If you are being bothered by another member, we provide the option to place them on your Ignore list so you don't have to see any more of their posts. Click their username to go to their profile, then click the Ignore button near the top of the page.

If you see posts which you believe break the rules, alert on them and let a Jury decide.

For issues which you believe cannot be handled by a Jury, you can contact me directly -- contact information is provided on the Contact Us page, found by clicking the "Contact" link which is at the bottom of every page on DU.
