The reply buttons on OP have disappeared

I'm signed in. I checked different forums and none of the OP I looked at have a reply button. I can reply to replies. I signed out and signed back in and the didn't change it. I haven't changed any account settings, although I looked to see if there is anything I can change.

Not the tablet. I'm away from home overnight. Maybe just a glitch on this network. Ty for the advice and perspective from your screens.

I can see the reply buttons on my tablet. What kind of tablet are you using, and do you normally hold it vertically or horizontally when browsing DU?

I'm replying from my phone. I'm thinking if resetting DU defaults on the tablet to see if that fixes it. Ty for asking.

I just realized the Powers button is just for my posts or replies. I did a reset to default. There is a reply bar at the very bottom under the replies that I didn't notice before. Maybe that fixed.

than the other buttons, which affects the way those buttons are displayed on different devices, which could potentially explain why you're seeing this problem. So I'm not entirely surprised to hear that this has happened, although figuring out why is a different story.

To be clear -- is it all three of those buttons that are missing? It should be. If it's just the reply button missing, then it's a different problem.

It would be very helpful if you could let me know what make of tablet you are seeing this problem on (iPad, Amazon Fire, etc.), and whether you hold it horizontally or vertically when visiting DU. That might help me track the issue down.

As a temporary workaround, as you noticed, there should always be a large "Reply to this discussion" button at the bottom of the page, which will not be affected by this particular issue. That button lets you post a direct reply to the OP. It's not ideal, but it should allow you to post replies to an OP while we figure out what's going on here.

You reply came right when I was leaving. I'm home now, thank you for waiting

The EDIT REC AND REPLY buttons are okay on my android phone and my Dell laptop.
The tablet is called K116_M Some kind of Android I bought on Amazon. I hold it horizontally when I use it (landscape)
On the tablet, I have a REC button on the top left side On the lower left of an OP, I can see signature lines and below that:
INFO TRASH BOOKMARK
SHARE ALERT POWERS (grayed out)
.
On the lower right side, I see # replies, # views
Under all current responses to the OP, there is a bar that says "Reply to this Discussion"
There are reply buttons to all of the replies to the OP, just not on the OP itself.

I'm pretty sure that I was able to reply to posts yesterday at my daughter's house on her network, and then I noticed the option was gone. I prefer using the tablet to the phone for most replies, because of the larger keyboard and screen, so I'm pretty sure I was using it for responses.

Now that I am home, I still don't have a Reply button on the tablet. I logged out and logged back in, but that didn't change anything. I restarted the tablet and logged back in, but no change.

I hope it is just a quirk on my tablet and not something that is a glitch for DU. I appreciate your taking the time to ask about it

So in the bottom right corner of the OP, you're seeing the number of replies and views, but you are missing the Edit and Reply buttons.

Is there a space beneath the number of replies and views where it looks like the buttons should be? Or are the replies and views sitting flush at the bottom of the OP footer box?

Oh and also, are you in Default Mode or one of the other modes you can switch to in Account Settings -- Skinner Mode or Night Mode? (If you have not changed anything in Account Settings, then you are in Default Mode).

For now I'm putting this down as a quirk of your device because I'm not receiving any other reports of this. I'd definitely like to figure it out for you though. Obviously we don't want things like this happening on any device.

Edit: I'm using the Default mode of DU 4 on all my devices

There is a gray area across the bottom of the OP. The buttons and replies/views are in the gray bar. On my laptop, the EDIT and REPLY buttons are in the gray area, below the # replies, # views.

The tablet definitely does things differently. If I want to post pictures on FB, I can post many at a time on the laptop, but only one at a time on the tablet. The SIM slots have never worked. I figured out pretty quick that it wasn't the best choice I've made with devices :/

Thank you for looking into it for me. Hope you aren't taking time away from a slower work load
