3 platforms, 3 different looks

On my phone, DU looks pretty much the same as before. On my Windows desktop, DU has a navigation panel on the left with links to Latest Breaking News, General Discussion, Lounge, and my subscriptions: I like this look. On my laptop Windows system, though, this panel is missing. Is this a design choice? The panel does make for easier navigation IMHO. Besides, the display looks somewhat naked without it.

Is there a way to get this panel on a laptop? My laptop and desktop are supposedly running the same version of Windows.

than desktop view.

I can get the left sidebar even on my tablet if I switch the browser from mobile to desktop.

The layout will display differently depending on the width of your browser. The panel should only disappears at “mobile” width, which is comparatively narrow.

Are you by any chance on a small laptop, and using screen zoom? I’m just trying to figure out why the mobile version might be showing up on your laptop.

(By the way you can tell if it’s the mobile version by visiting the homepage on your laptop — if it’s the mobile version you should only see a single column of items. If not mobile, there will be multiple columns.)

The other possibility is that you’re not getting the mobile version, the panel has just disappeared. Which would be a head scratcher I must admit.

since I'm supposedly running the same OS on both, it may be something buried deep in the driver interfaces and I'm not sure that if I go mucking around in there something else won't break.

When I have the time maybe I'll poke around in Firefox to see if there's a way I can trick it.
