Recruiting a child prostitute in Connecticut

Do you use the word "pimp" in any kind of positive connotation? As a verb or adjective or anything?

If you do, please read this entire article. If you can continue to do so after reading this, ...

The average age for girls entering prostitution is 12-14.

TRIGGER WARNING

http://www.ctmirror.org/story/17081/recruiting-child-prostitute-connecticut

A 15-year-old was having a bad day at Fitch High School in Groton, so she left school early that day in May 2010 and headed to Ocean Beach to clear her head. Within minutes, a sympathetic older man approached her. He comforted her and hung out with her at the beach until she calmed down.

He invited "Amy" to stay with him just for the night until she figured things out. Having skipped out on school and run away from her group home for foster children in Mystic, she had nowhere else to go, so she accepted.

...

He encouraged her to drink and gave her drugs and began to bring her to the homes of his friends, ordering her to have sex with them. The process soon became a routine, as the girl was shuttled house to house in a haze to have sex with various men. Her "boyfriend" received the payment. She was never left alone. And she was never allowed to leave.

...

Next story: Very few pimps and johns ever get arrested. DCF reports that for every 50 prostitutes arrested, one John is charged. Prosecutors often rely on a victim willing to testify, a huge challenge with these abused children.

It makes me sick that so few people care about the women who get sucked into the sex industry. At least if they're under 17, there's a modicum of concern. Just a little though....you know many people blame these girls just as much as the girls do themselves.

"Watch Your Language"

Friday, 15 July 2011 14:03

We offer you this article "Watch Your Language" by PROTECT board member Andrew Vachss, first published in Parade on June 5, 2005, a timely article even now.

Vachss says, "This is not about political correctness. It is about telling the truth."

Can we, as individuals, change our country by taking the time to write reporters and other media people when they use the 'wrong language' to describe crimes against children?

Here are some eye-opening facts about who in America cares enough about their "special interests" to spend money on them:

Wait... children must be here somewhere?! Maybe if we click on "Single Issue..." Nope, nothing about kids. Human Rights? Oh, there we are: http://www.opensecrets.org/lobby/clientsum.php?id=D000054171&year=2012

Hey, if you think it's absolutely unacceptable that we're out there fighting with this kind of spare change, you can give a buck or two to our lobbying arm, PROTECT, above.

Preceded by an unflattering adjective

Pimps are fucked up, human traffickers and should be sentenced to long time hard labor. Pimping underage children should be a life sentence. Johns should a get a year minimum, With descretionary sentencing for repeat offenders of not less than 5 years. Unless they are purchasing children, then it should be 20 year minimum. Prostitution should be decriminalized.

To make room for all these assholes, decriminalize marijuana.

The positive uses sound stupid, unless it's using the literal meaning, bragging about being a pimp for whatever reason. Then it sounds fucked up and disgusting.

How much compensation is justice for victims of sexual exploitation?
Posted on: 7:17 pm, October 8, 2012, by Tracy Sears

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–A federal appeals court decision marks the latest chapter in the growing national fight to give victims of sexual exploitation the right to seek full financial restitution.

Last week, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, ruled that victims of child pornography can collectively go after perpetrators for full damages.

In previous rulings, six other appellate courts, including the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, placed limits on the amount of damages a victim can receive. The courts ruled that victims had to show a link between each individual crime and that victim’s injuries.

Camille Cooper, a victims’ rights advocate for PROTECT, says the previous rulings placed a big financial and emotional burden on victims.

“They’re interpreting the statute so the victim would have to go from courthouse to courthouse all over the country for a few thousand dollars at a time from each defendant,” Cooper said.

Interpretation of the federal law is now in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Women admit to bringing 13-year-old girl to Henrico for sex
Posted on: 2:04 pm, September 27, 2012, by Scott Wise

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Two women face five years in prison after they admitted to their role in a prostitution ring that involved a 13-year-old girl, according to an email from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Whitney RH, 20, and Rachael MM, 20, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport an individual across state lines for purposes of prostitution.

The women admitted they met the 13-year-old in Miami and encouraged her to come with them to Charlotte. Between March and May 2012, the child lived in various Charlotte-area hotels working as a prostitute with Hayes, Masingene, and their pimp Korey Jermaine Reynolds, the women said.

In May, Henrico Police found the 13-year-old girl in a West End hotel during a prostitution sting.
