Of course we all know this isn't limited to the US. Still, a great job.

(41,999 posts)I think one of the reason we don't seem to reach a true sense of spiritual and physical beauty is because its been subverted by false standards of sexual desirability ie. a woman feels beautiful only if she is desired; (which is a cosmic con job). At the age of the kids in the film, why, no really, why, are boys talking about girls 'bodies'. I wonder what the girls response would be about boys?
So what are the alternatives? How do we reach young people, teach young people that what they're being indoctrinated with is a lie, when my middle aged peers are getting things like getting eyelash extensions for no good reason I can see. (I mean this literally, whatever the relative attractiveness of these women I don't see that it adds anything.)
Certain churches try to send a positive beauty message then they fuck it up by trying to own uterus's.
I work with lots of young women. Nurses. What happens to them at least where I live, not an area known for over decoration, unless it's tattoos, is they get mad. "I don't have time for makeup" many of them say. Self decoration is saved for special occasions. There are the exceptions of course, like one young lady who 'forgot' her make-up and felt awkward for the rest of the day.
Nearly Everyone of them complains about weight. (except me, I use a line I stole from DU and say a little extra weight is asshole repellent)
Every generation seems to come up with an 'alternative' look, like say the Goths. In some of these groups males and females end up using much the same look, although females as always usually find the uncomfortable revealing kind of clothes. These kids usually are the square peg ones, but there is something intensely beautiful about them. They fight so hard, not even sure of the battle.
Anyway, I have no answers, that was an awesome video thank you

(110,159 posts)immediately come back with, and is this the number one criteria for girls picking a guy? shouldn't looks be all important for a girl to be interested in YOU.
then i hear the boys talking about what to change. taller, for boys. big issue with my boys. all of who they are.
whoever that woman was talking to trya, eeew, should have done less.
the part, looking in the mirror. the girl skinny but seeing fat. so true. at one point of the game, my ribs where showing. and i knew i had to lose another ten.
and then the end, all those kids, beautiful in their laughter, .... yes, beautiful. that was a lovely ending.
thanks.

(115,103 posts)saying that looks matter, while you could tell they had reservations about what they were saying. They knew in their hearts it was wrong.
