Anthony Weiner gets feminized

In Anthony Weiner’s first joint interview with wife Huma Abedin one thing sticks out (aside from the photo of their absurdly adorable 6-month-old): He’s doing the laundry. Abedin tells People, “Anthony has spent every day since [the scandal] trying to be the best dad and husband he can be,” and the magazine immediately follows up the quote with proof. It turns out Weiner “does all the laundry.” What a catch, that guy!

Sorry to be cynical here — I mean, I hope he really does do all the dirty laundry — but there’s a Downy whiff of political calculation here. Is there a more obvious way to show that the sext-crazed ex-congressman has been reformed than to paint him as a laundering hausfrau? Behold, domesticated, feminized Weiner! The Daily Mail went so far as to accompany its coverage of the People interview with a photo of him picking up Abedin’s dry cleaning. You know a man’s in the doghouse when he’s doing women’s work. Next up I expect a GQ photo shoot of Weiner — laundry basket on one hip, baby on the other.

To be clear, I don’t care how the couple has privately dealt with his sex scandal. What interests me is how Weiner may be attempting to “make it up” to the general public, especially amid rumors of a run for mayor of New York.

I would point out that, if you don't have household help, doing laundry should be a shared chore!

What a curious notion. He sounds more like he's trying to be a decent human being. Even my macho, military SIL will do laundry and dishes.

What, real men aren't supposed to help with household chores? They lose testosterone points or something?

I, too wish them the best.

1. You perpetuate the stereotype that such work is the realm of women and

2. You fence off domestic life from men, leaving them with nothing to do but work.

I find it puzzling since I thought you were into the idea of women being liberated from traditional stereotypical roles.

Do you not think that in order to free women from this domestic work stereotype that it also necessary to allow men to expand into that realm without being snickered at or targeted with cynicism?

10. There is no requirement to maintain the original article title.

If the OP disagrees with the phrasing of the title, she can say so.

Meanwhile I will feel free to post my opinion of the title and the implications of it.

i could say it is not my words but a title. you already have been told about your fuck up and tried to cover with something else.

no, i do not edit titles. if i had to edit a title i would not use an article. it is about integrity and being consistent. i dont change things and present them in altered form

the whole "feminized" because he did laundry is the fuckin point of the OP.... duh. you know, do laundry, feminized, isnt that fuckin stupid.

which you are agreeing with me about.

hey.... a simple, "my bad" works for me. it is easy, really.

Feminized? One who isn't working full-time has time to do chores. I don't think there's anything particularly feminine about doing dishes.
