I need your help recommending a thread for two women running for Senate

I'm not much for begging but we have two strong women running for Senate in Kentucky and West Virginia who really need our support.

Natalie Tennant is running against RW loon Shelley Moore Capito in West Virginia for the seat being vacated by Sen. Jay Rockefeller. Natalie doesn't have nearly the funds of Capito, for whom outside money and corporate interests have filled her war chest to bursting. The most vile of tealoons, including Paul Ryan, will be stumping for Capito.

In Kentucky, Alison Lunergan Grimes has a real shot at unseating Mitch McConnell. This would be a real blow to the Republican party on so many levels.

If you feel comfortable doing so, I'd really appreciate a kick for this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1272333

Thanks very much!

It feels a bit awkward doing so but sometimes even worthy threads and bulletins can get lost on a small group forum. On the other hand, if you post them to GD they would probably disappear in about 5 minutes and dare I say it, the fact that we're talking about two women candidates here would have something to do with that. A win for these two women could change the whole complexion of the Senate and help to strangle this war on women at its source.

First of all, Shelley Moore Capito was born entrenched in WV politics. Her father was the disgraced former governor of West Virginia, Arch Moore. Capito herself has served in Congress since 2001, so she's pretty well got her teabaggin' tentacles slithered into every corrupt nook and cranny of the system. In that respect, this acorn didn't fall far from the tree. Her war chest is full to bursting from outside money, even from the Koch empire. She's got almost twice the money to spend as Natalie.

Natalie is accomplished, experienced and is currently serving as WV's Secretary of State, where she's done an outstanding job. Unfortunately, she's not getting those boatloads of outside money being sucked up by Capito. The only way I can see us propelling Natalie to the Senate is by raising a lot more money than has been contributed so far. Unlike Capito, Natalie will have to depend on the small contributions of citizens like you and me. I think it can be done. We just have to make up our minds that we WILL do it. We have to.

Perhaps if these women weren't running for Senate from Appalachian states they would get more attention. But y'know, there are only so many seats in the Senate and when it comes right down to it, every state only gets two, whether it's New York or West Virginia. There are NO throwaway or unimportant Senate races!

Our future Democratic president will probably be faced with filling at least one or two vacancies on the Supreme Court. Who do you see approving these appointments? Shelley Moore Capito and Mitch McConnell? Or Natalie Tennant and Alison Lundergan Grimes? That choice, my friends, is OURS.
