The problem is that a woman just saying "You have no power over me" is not enough to force men to give up on this Mephistophelean pact.

and they are very defensive about it. Truthfully, I don't encounter much sexism offline. Maybe it's because people feel free to discuss any absurd view they have over the internet, or maybe that they aggregate here. The gender debates here can make things seem more contentious that they actually are. I'm not saying there isn't endemic sexism and misogyny. Of course there is. But I don't encounter people who seek to justify it so zealously offline.
