This bothers me to no end

This video bugs me in ways I can't seem to get people to understand. Yes they preface the whole thing by donating money to breast cancer but anyway I'll let someone else tell me maybe I'm overreacting.

I am mildly curious how many turned them down (I assume a lot did) but have no real interest in finding out. Nor do I have an interest in finding out how many times they got kicked, screamed at, or had the police called on them.

I take care of post-mastectomy reconstruction patients. They're fucking CANCER survivors---not just a pair of goddam boobs.

I've read a few articles on this latest trend and it's typical of a number of sexist attempts to promote a business or product using breast cancer. Ignorant Motherfuckers.

The women I care for are survivors who have chosen a specific kind of reconstruction. It's not my primary nursing specialty--that's transplant, but we take care of reconstructive 'flaps', so I've taken care of many women who have been through it all--chemo, radiation, mastectomy, then reconstruction.

Raising money is one thing; capitalizing on peoples pain and suffering by making it about breasts and not about the human being they belong too is another thing entirely. Humor has it's place, but this is humor edged with mocking cruelty.

i don't think they all enjoy it. there is some expectation of what their reaction should be and how they would be viewed if they don't go along with it.

there were a few situations when i was younger where i would kind of react the same way. just kind of smile but you really are not comfortable with it.

YES YES YES!!! Your last sentence sums up too why women have a hard time speaking up about sexual harassment ("well maybe he doesn't realize how uncomfortable I am" ).

As a preliminary matter, I only watched about half of it. It became pretty clear that it was repetitive.

1. "boobs"

2. if they want to give money for breast cancer research, then give money. They don't need this show.

3. seems like they are using a good cause as a pretense to put their faces in women's chests. That is "gross sexual imposition" by deception in this state.

4. perpetuates the idea that women's bodies exist for the entertainment of men.

5. all fit, young, attractive women. kind of reinforces #4.

on the other hand...

1. it may actually further its stated purpose of reinforcing breast cancer awareness.

2. perhaps this kind of bawdy humor deescalates sexual tension and desexualizes breasts (though I tend to doubt it).

defunding issue ?

when many women came out to speak about their own breast cancer and how planned parenthood helped them. what those women did is what brings awareness. it wasn't about loving boobs, it was about women who wanted to live . it was about their health, what they went through.

not how much guys loved boobs.

I was in the drive-through at McDonald's yesterday. The clerk, a woman, was wearing a pink t-shirt with the slogan 'Big or Small Save Them All' and it bugged me. The focus on size just further advances the notion of entertainment, and this shirt was endorsed by McDonald's. It was their shirt, IOW. Disgusting. Of course, I could be oversensitive, but I found it obnoxious and sad. Breast cancer survivors are actual people, they are not the sum total of their breasts.
