This video bugs me in ways I can't seem to get people to understand. Yes they preface the whole thing by donating money to breast cancer but anyway I'll let someone else tell me maybe I'm overreacting.

(53,072 posts)No way I'd let some total stranger do that to me. I'd tell him not to use breast cancer as an excuse to cop a feel.
Plus, 20 bucks?! Cheap bastards.

(43,049 posts)the women do seem to be enjoying it more than the men.
(Even the one toward the end who was trying desperately to keep a straight face.)

I'd like to see the videos of the women that told them to fuck off. You know that happened.
TreasonousBastard
(43,049 posts)while it does have a certain creep factor, everyone is doing this of their free will.
I am mildly curious how many turned them down (I assume a lot did) but have no real interest in finding out. Nor do I have an interest in finding out how many times they got kicked, screamed at, or had the police called on them.

About like the dumbass penis-head picture in GD yesterday... that seemed to amuse a lot of folks and I just thought it was... well, funny if you are 12. Maybe.

(115,103 posts)You couldn't pay me to watch that shit, but I do wonder if it's only the women whose appearance conforms to patriarchal beauty standards who are featured in this Idiocracy-like take on 'charity'.

(2,670 posts)The thing that seems lost to alot of these guys is that while not as common male breast cancer does happen

(115,103 posts)I noticed on a screen cap the words "simple pickup".
Says it all, right there.
That dumbshits are defending this because 'butbutbut they asked permission! consent! that means its totally awesome!' makes me literally sick.
Fucking Idiocracy.

(110,159 posts)you know, the breast being about them, for them, theirs to protect, to get money from them.
as redq says, all about objectifying. but how i see it, you have a disease that KILLS women and yet they use the breast as a toy for the boys to play with to get cash. what about the women that get they breast taken off to survive. no breast for the guys to play with, boo hoo. it is insulting. for the boyz. about women that are sick.

Fuck that.

(42,014 posts)I take care of post-mastectomy reconstruction patients. They're fucking CANCER survivors---not just a pair of goddam boobs.
I've read a few articles on this latest trend and it's typical of a number of sexist attempts to promote a business or product using breast cancer. Ignorant Motherfuckers.
Arcanetrance
(2,670 posts)And slowly drain her was tough.
ismnotwasm
(42,014 posts)The women I care for are survivors who have chosen a specific kind of reconstruction. It's not my primary nursing specialty--that's transplant, but we take care of reconstructive 'flaps', so I've taken care of many women who have been through it all--chemo, radiation, mastectomy, then reconstruction.
Raising money is one thing; capitalizing on peoples pain and suffering by making it about breasts and not about the human being they belong too is another thing entirely. Humor has it's place, but this is humor edged with mocking cruelty.

(42,014 posts)That's what irritates me about this kind of thing. I have a great sense of humor; an inappropriate one usually-- I can see where someone would find this entertaining--- if they were ignorant as hell, sexist as fuck, or just a sociopath;

(89,276 posts)accused of being uptight or some shit and of course the whole crap about how it's for a good cause.
there have been other videos like this included posted on here where guys try to ask girls for a kiss. the videos are made in a way to make it seem like the guys are just being cute or some shit.
Arcanetrance
(2,670 posts)All I got back from people was oh it's for a good cause I think you're reading ore not it than there is
JI7
(89,276 posts)i don't think they all enjoy it. there is some expectation of what their reaction should be and how they would be viewed if they don't go along with it.
there were a few situations when i was younger where i would kind of react the same way. just kind of smile but you really are not comfortable with it.
just the fact that this was made, the guys think it's so cute shows there is a problem.
Arcanetrance
(2,670 posts)To quote them "come on its for a good cause and all the women approved". Than after I continued disagreeing it turned into "what kind of guy are you".

(42,014 posts)I don't want some creepy asswipes slobbery lips all up in my bust. I don't even want to talk to anybody who'd do it in the first place. It's gross man.
And neither, taking a very good guess, would the majority of women. The few women who allow it don't fucking speak for me. It's not "woman approved"
Arcanetrance
(2,670 posts)get something in return for it. If they were truly a good person they'd donate money freely to a research fund for breast cancer and forego the gratification that they feel they are entitled to.

(89,276 posts)doing something for a good cause . like some noble humanitarian shit.
so it's not just that they think it's something that is just funny but they think they are something good.
fuck those guys.
and watching the video and most of the girl's reactions they did not seem comfortable. being a female i know that reaction and it's as i said earlier. they giggle it off because they think it's the appropriate thing for them to do because it's just fun and "for a good cause".
they think if they have a problem with it there is something wrong with them.

(2,670 posts)Society says women have to accept all advances regardless of how uncomfortable they make you. As a guy I want to see women strike out and say fuck that and Fuck societal norms. I can only imagine what alot of women must feel when it comes to this shit
ismnotwasm
(42,014 posts)I bet if I asked 10 women of varying ages tomorrow if they'd allow that shit all of them would say no, (but I work with nurses and we KNOW what might be in that slobber) I can see if a woman was approached on the street for a "good cause" they'd get a bit insecure on what the best thing to do would be for them personally.
they think if they have a problem with it there is something wrong with them.
YES YES YES!!! Your last sentence sums up too why women have a hard time speaking up about sexual harassment ("well maybe he doesn't realize how uncomfortable I am" ).
Parents don't teach your daughters to be nice and accommodating. Teach them kindness and confidence.

Plus, I wanted to agree with those here who made the point that women's breasts are not just there to make dudes happy. Jeeez. Get a clue, fellas.

(115,103 posts)If any man doesn't, that means there's something with them.
This goes back to that quote by Andrea Dworkin about the use of force being declared normative, except in this case it's sexual objectification that's considered normative.

(39,154 posts)As a preliminary matter, I only watched about half of it. It became pretty clear that it was repetitive.
1. "boobs"
2. if they want to give money for breast cancer research, then give money. They don't need this show.
3. seems like they are using a good cause as a pretense to put their faces in women's chests. That is "gross sexual imposition" by deception in this state.
4. perpetuates the idea that women's bodies exist for the entertainment of men.
5. all fit, young, attractive women. kind of reinforces #4.
on the other hand...
1. it may actually further its stated purpose of reinforcing breast cancer awareness.
2. perhaps this kind of bawdy humor deescalates sexual tension and desexualizes breasts (though I tend to doubt it).
JI7
(89,276 posts)defunding issue ?
when many women came out to speak about their own breast cancer and how planned parenthood helped them. what those women did is what brings awareness. it wasn't about loving boobs, it was about women who wanted to live . it was about their health, what they went through.
not how much guys loved boobs.

(3,724 posts)I was in the drive-through at McDonald's yesterday. The clerk, a woman, was wearing a pink t-shirt with the slogan 'Big or Small Save Them All' and it bugged me. The focus on size just further advances the notion of entertainment, and this shirt was endorsed by McDonald's. It was their shirt, IOW. Disgusting. Of course, I could be oversensitive, but I found it obnoxious and sad. Breast cancer survivors are actual people, they are not the sum total of their breasts.

(564 posts)The most annoying bumper sticker I've seen is Save the Ta-Ta's.
That is annoying shirt. It's not about saving lives, but saving breasts.
And the face of breast cancer is overwhelmingly white too.
ismnotwasm
(42,014 posts)I was thinking about that. Toss a good portion of racism with that sexism.
pitbullgirl1965
(564 posts)isn't the powerhouse it was. And OT somewhat: heart disease kills more women then breast cancer. It's not as sexy though.
That reminds me: I cannot remember where I read this: the author of the piece said "breasts were a vital organ" D:
I think I left a scathing comment.
