Immaculate conception

Last edited Fri Oct 11, 2013, 10:24 AM - Edit history (2)

There is a recent poll in GD about whether insurance companies should be able to charge women more. The vast majority of the votes are against it, but there are some comments suggesting that maternity coverage is for women alone. Evidently the fact that a man is required for a woman to become pregnant doesn't enter the consciousness of some. I'm wondering what comment prompted Creek Dog to create that poll. He's not reactionary on gender issues. I recall a thread not too long ago complaining about how women used more health resources than men because of childbirth. It was authored by someone with children. The fact that insurance for maternity covers the birth of their own children seems entirely lost on those who relish whining about women.

Bottom line: We are talking about species survival, when discussing women's maternal healthcare, and yes men have a part to play in that--of course! what the fuck is wrong with these people?

I can't even begin to imagine the thought process, or lack of it, that afflicts some of these people. Some of this stuff is more reactionary than anything the Republicans come up with.

4. Let's hope the few who don't get it learned something from that thread.

Then again, we've been discussing risk pooling for fucking years so who knows why those few still don't get it.

care in spite of being male, are they THAT ignorant about how insurance works? It's way up there in the list of stupid positions taken on DU.
