"She probably got that Lexus from the divorce when she caught her ex bonking the maid."

Having grown up well-to-do, never having had to work, she doesn't have any job skills, other than being a wife.

In response to this:

dunno

i was behind a lady at the store, she paid for some very nice vegetables and snacks with an Illinois Link card.

i had two items, paid, and headed toward my car.

walked past her getting into her lexus.

granted, it was probably a five to ten year old lexus, but it was still a lexus.

i worked 12 hours that day.

plus the KGB, i mean **COUGH** the IRS is still on my ass for that nut i owe them.

(and i'm only calling the IRS the KGB because the mailman did. when you're in arrears with the IRS they start sending certified mail, so i got one of those little cards telling me i had a letter. in the box for "SENDER" or whatever, the postman wrote "KGB" - i got a chuckle out of that).

I don't want to link, but wanted to bring it for discussion. Are you seeing a lot of this tripe at democratic websites on the net? I couldn't believe it!

come up with something remotely plausible. unlike some people, most here have at least two arcing brain cells, and we know propaganda when it shows up. as a poster said in another thread, "don't insult my intelligence. I give points for originality and creativity in lies."

That's a huge gap. A five year old Lexus still has a lot of miles left in it if taken care of and not abused. Ten years - figuring 20k a year we are around the 200k mark. Unless the car was maintained exceptionally well it's close to eol. I wouldn't begrudge anyone either car no matter how they acquired it (which is no ones business by the way)

She said she was in the market when a black lady paid for her steaks and other fancy groceries with food stamps. She put her groceries in her Cadillac this time, not a Lexus. She said her son was on food stamps and didn't get enough to buy decent groceries because he wasn't black. Steph called her on this bullshit. Variations of this story have been circulating around RW hate sites ever since Reagan spoke of welfare queens in Cadillacs. It's just hate talk and not a word of it true.

On the other hand she might get an award for a false charge.

But it doesn't always make sense to sell the car when you are down on your luck and some people have a difficult time making the transition to living poor. If the woman had been previously well off, I'm sure that she really wouldn't rather have government aid rather than a job. Who knows what her circumstances were though?
It probably wasn't a case of her having previously been a kept woman who got only the car in the divorce settlement though.

but then again I can be fairly oblivious.

Remembering a former director of R&D that drove a Lotus, and another woman who worked her tail off for a promotion to VP in accounting/finance. She rewarded herself with a BMW. It appears to be human nature that Grapes can be Sour and people better off than ourselves are just Lucky Slackers.

On edit: FYI- People who take special needs kids, Foster or Adopting may be using various benefits even with higher incomes. Atleast I know it has been done here in Mass.
