The Invisible War

The most shameful and best-kept secret in the U.S. military? The epidemic of rape and sexual assault within the ranks. An American female soldier in a combat zone is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. A culture of privilege and impunity has resulted in few prosecutions, and the systematic isolation of women — and men — who dare report the crimes.

do you know if there has been any studies on the rate of these incidents in the armed services of other countries? I wonder if more steps towards meaningful integration of women into the military has any effect on incidents as well. I wonder if military lifestyle is somehow encouraging these rapes and other sexual crimes.
This is a dragon with many heads- my suspicion is that the leaders in the military could use a dose of humility on this subject and start to listen to and follow the advice of experts in the field, instead of gender power displays disguised as effective management tools.
Once again, thank you for a most important OP.
