I just got back into the dating scene and am already being bombarded with some absolutely horrifying messages. It wondered if I was just not as aware of it when I was younger, but I think you're right. Misogyny is so much more profound today. I suppose it results from a decline in male privilege and some blame women because being male doesn't carry the automatic level of privilege it once did. Also the general rightward trajectory of the country is evident in racism and sexism.

especially today. especially with the net. and yes, feeding into real world like the politician sending out email "children and vagina's?

men will dismiss it as just a small portion on a dating site. that is being dishonest. ignoring a real issue that needs to be addressed. this is not just a small group, on one site, or even a dating site. this is a growing problem of too many men feeling they are allowed to speak to and about women in this manner and it feeds into our real life.

we hear it repeatedly. as the asian women do.

to be told not a big deal cause just a few men, is bullshit. we know this. and we know when told this, the man is doing it to dismiss ANOTHER very large concern women have.

i really want to know, if it is a human trait, and not just man, which would indicate entitlement and privilege, where thru out the net are the women talking about men in this manner?

27. So I showed this to a friend of mine

She said she gets stupid comments all the time. A "pick up" line for certain men is 'So, do you speak English?' (She said she told them 'that is soo not a pick up line')

She also told me that on more than one occasion women will see pictures of her boyfriend, and one of the responses she got was "he's pretty hot for an Asian guy" of course she was WTF on that one, and we got into a discussion on how Asian men are perceived as not sexual or not desirable---no matter what their actual appearance is is many parts of Western culture.
