In my mind it provides further evidence that there are a lot sexists and misogynists out there.

(36,223 posts)What's depressing is thinking what many are probably holding back from saying these things face to face, but feel that way just the same.

(41,998 posts)I'm glad I'm a nurse. I'm also glad that medical residents are at about 50%, and Fellows are catching up. An Egalitarian work places DOES make a differense, as does strong anti-harassment/discrimination wording in hiring policy. Which, of course doesn't preclude this type of thinking, but at least I don't have to hear it, and are among others who are appalled by it.

(6,036 posts)I can't imagine a company with more than a handful of employees that would take the liability of not enforcing zero tolerance of a hostile workplace. Any way you looked at it twas far cheaper to have a compliant work place than to face even 1 court case.
Places I have been it's written policy and should management be made aware of any infraction action is immediate. Probably because failure of management at any level is deemed actionable by immediate termination for creating/fostering/allowing a hostile work environment. The people posting stuff online better think about what it means if they are eve identified. Any manager determined to have posted racist/sexist stuff online might be terminated for creating a hostile work environment. It will effect how management views their employ-ability and suitability for hiring, promotions etc.
Can't you just see the court case? Mr OLTG you knew about X's sexist attitude when you put him in charge of &^%. Why should we think you are not equally guilty of discrimination against ___.
