Did you see the pic thread in the Lounge? If not, ya need to go look. Some of HOF members have shown their faces. I'll give you a hint there's two BB's in there. http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018337718

If I can ever figure out how to do it I might put mine up too. But I'm not to good at that stuff. Always needed hubby when it came to our personal picture stuff

(102,405 posts)If any of you have had serious issues with someone in the past that gives you pause--even if they haven't yet quite risen to the point of stalking, you may want to consider whether you feel comfortable posting a photo that will forever link to your previously anonymous username. This is, unfortunately, an issue for me, which is why I can't post one of my own. It takes very little skill and time to link other information (found throughout the internet) together, once that is done, providing a perfect entree for some with less "friendly" intent to fully identify and possibly locate you. This may sound paranoid, but sadly this is the truth of the internet today.
Even though it has hurt me professionally, this is why I don't do facebook nor most other social media.
For those who can and want to, though, I know I will enjoy seeing your photos and will keep checking that thread.... I've already seen gorgeous photos of our BostonBean (and husband)!

(102,405 posts)I really do believe most have very little to worry about, though being cautious about identifying textual information is always a good idea--i.e., things that could be used to decipher passwords, etc
Unfortunately, I've had someone unpleasant in my past for whom I could never be certain.. in terms of future intent.

(53,074 posts)The problem is it's on my work website. I took it off photobucket too so it shouldn't be traceable at this point.

(998 posts)there is validity in being very cautious, especially us woman-folk. (strong feminist voices)
I have my photo with any comments using a certain site, but it is small and can not be enlarged.

(42,014 posts)I'm a bit camera shy, I'll post a picture some day, I use my iPad a lot and haven't the app that allows for posting pictures.
(I'm feeling increasing pressure from my daughter in Michigan to get a Facebook account)
BainsBane
(53,074 posts)is to take a picture with your IPad, email it to yourself and post it on an open account like photobucket. Just don't use your real name on the account with the photo. Facebook pictures won't link to DU unless you have everything open to the world, which I wouldn't advise.
