Why I joined HOF

I hope this thread is okay within the group SOP. If a group member tells me otherwise, I will self delete.

Many malign this group, as we have recently seen. I first became aware of its existence during the rape wars. When I saw who was attacking you women and how strongly and articulately you advanced your positions, I knew that I wanted to know more about you. That is when I started reading threads here and gradually started participating. I want to thank you all for providing a safe space where we can express ourselves.

husbands, sisters, mothers, brothers and friends, neighbors. many that would agree with us in most areas of life, truly battle life and death with us. it has always been with feminism. feminism has never had majority support. and it never will. not even on a progressive board. too many things that allow us to be comfortable in life is being challenged.

we are a small group. for sure.

many will stand up for womens rights, and that does not make them a feminist. a feminist is a step beyond.

and it is far from easy.

I am grateful to share this forum with Women who know what they are talking about.

It's been such a good learning experience for me that I check this forum at least twice a day! I want to thank all of you who have allowed me here and who have understood that I am still learning and need to thank those who have had to do some heavy lifting.

I really thank you.

because I read someone complaining about the women in HOF standing up for themselves or something, and I thought, "Oh, well that's worth looking into."

You have a nice set of feminist chops yourself!

I learned quite quickly to avoid META at all cost. The ultimate foolishness in mansplainin' dribble mucks up the place. As well as a few male identified women whose ultimate goal is to please.... him.

You are a powerful female voice here on DU. I enjoy every post you make.

From a short hiatus, I didn't recognize the feminist forum, or rather I DID recognize certain names I was appalled at, judging by prior posts. I always read more than I post. Someone mentioned this group, I understand there was a lot of contentiousness in the feminists forum itself, and everything splintered. I missed that period of time.

And I feel sorry about that.

But thank goodness this group is here, bad reputation or not. And as other people have pointed out 'HoF' is a byword, or accusation tossed out at anybody who is attempting to speak up, OR, at individuals who followed their own purpose to the point of getting PPR'd--it doesn't matter if they were a member or not.

It actually kind of funny, in a dark humor kind of way.
