Question on ME group policy

"This group does not host discussions of the Israel/Palestine conflict."

This seems like an absolutely bizarre policy for a Middle East group. This would be akin to the Latin America group having a policy saying, "This group does not host discussions about Mexico." In the absence of any actual shift in policy, where is the appropriate place on DU to discuss the topic?

which is listed under Foreign Policy/National Security. The issue has been deemed too contentious for polite society. Check your weapons at the door.

Didn't even see that.

EDIT: Wow, so it's basically an AIPAC group. I actually find that at least a little surprising. Anyway, thanks again.

but there's considerable pushback. Not too much productive conversation. There's no middle ground, which is why it was banished to its own ghetto. We probably shouldn't even be talking about it.
