Got a call yesterday, asking if I'd

be supporting Hillary Clinton at our March 1 caucuses in MN. I said I would. Apparently, the Clinton campaign is out recruiting caucus attendees already, two months before the caucuses. I haven't heard from the Sanders organization yet.

It's a little unusual for there to be much campaigning about these poorly-attended precinct caucuses, really. It's interesting that the Clinton campaign is actively calling at this point. Now, they may just be calling people who have been to previous caucuses, but I don't know the answer to that.

I don't get involved in campaigning prior to presidential year caucuses. Normally, I'm busy with state legislative candidates I support. This year, our current group will no doubt be shoe-ins, and no endorsements are made until the Senate district conventions, so it would be unusual for any of them to be pushing precinct caucus attendance.

I will be interested to see what the turnout will be at my precinct's caucus, though. Normally, it is quite low. If the Sanders campaign pushes hard for these, he might have a better chance here. That the Clinton organization is already pushing for attendance indicates that they will be trying hard to get the caucus votes here.

getting people to commit.

It is smart of her/them to try and line up people now. It may help cement their support for her and keep them from not showing up for her when it counts.

This is one of the better moves that I have heard her campaign making. She did lose last time around, in part, because Obama won a lot of the later caucus states. Maybe she is fighting the last war, but this is still a smart move.

Good for her. I like seeing a well run Democratic campaign, even when it is for someone I am not supporting. Maybe some of her staff will end up in Bernie's camp if he is able to win. Or maybe in O'Malley's the next time he runs (and I think that is a certainty).
