2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA fire has been ignited in America
It is more than evident that a significant number of American voters are disgusted with politics as usual. Every aspect of our lives has been denigrated and our very lives are at threat; an insane foreign policy, poor management of our Nations health care system, lack of improved educational systems, complete disregard for our infrastructure, disregard for basic human rights, mismanagement of our natural resources, and a neglect of our physical environment all point to the failure of our current governing policies.
The choices to alter our disastrous decline are currently represented by opposing forces in each party. Both of these forces are correct to think that we need a significant change to effect any progress.
A significant number of these Americans want to take us back to a frightening world of white male domination. An opposing force of people want to join the rest of the free world and work toward more cooperative solutions to the problems facing all of us today.
I do believe that Bernie Sanders offers the more sane approach to these voters.

(55,981 posts)election. Some don't want to know that the Oligarchy causes poverty and won't solve it. I see it as a moral issue. Support the 1% at the detriment of the 50,000,000 Americans living in poverty.
The choice is simple, support Goldman-Sachs profits or support the 50 million living in poverty.

FWIW - I've only been invited to one WH Party, and I never do Black Tie events.

(4,775 posts)Votes and supporters, not money, are the end-game, and don't ever forget it.
He won't have "no money at all", because we'll make sure of that.
He doesn't have to outspend his opponent to win, he just needs enough to run a national campaign. Witness the Jeb campaign, far outspending all others, yet floundering. It is hard to win without money, but it is not as hard as winning with high negatives and wide but tepid support.
Bernie doesn't want, and hopefully won't accept, corporate money with strings, but there is still a lot of big money from wealthy Democrats who aren't in it favors, such as the liberal Hollywood actor cohort.
Hopefully when Bernie wins the primary the well-heeled Democratic establishment (such as yourself) that is throwing its support behind Hillary will open their checkbooks to him.
This is how we will win, or we are not a legitimate party for representation of the people.

(5,402 posts)Add that to her rather mercurial approach to "campaign finance reform, pro-criminal justice. Pro-progressive taxation..." and the suspicious nature of the "financial resources" you so blithely slid passed, and there is a whole slew of things to dislike.

believe numbers supplied by corporate media, who is controlled/fed by the 1%.
Everywhere I go, I hardly ever hear her name mentioned. Bernie, on the other hand is a totally different story.
People on both sides are sick of the bullshit. It'll be Trump vs Bernie, with Bernie winning handily. It's really a no brainer.
I look forward to see the voter participation breakdown by age, race, etc.
And I hope you had a Merry Christmas too.
Note: I received a Bernie shirt!!!! Woo Hoo.

It does seem to be that the entire planet is starting to fully realize that the POWERS THAT BE are willing to ruin the planet and inflict massive human misery just to be rich and powerful. And why the hell not, they won't have a shameful place in history because the planet will become extinct.
I hope the Oligarch's understand that if Bernie looses, the angry masses will eventually hang the wealthy by the thousands like Mussoilini at the end of WW2.

(36,392 posts)Excuses abound, but the short version is that Mrs Clinton is entitled to the white house due to her gender and a lifetime as a dc center right operative. They would rather push away millions of young voters than embrace an old white Jew who believes we need an entirely new outlook. I am willing to stick with the party as long as they fight the republicans with everything they have. When they continually negotiate (losing badly every time), they no longer serve a useful purpose.

I think you will be sadly disappointed.

(5,178 posts)And there are those with money in Wall St.
Money which by working in support of corporate conservatives and conservative policies easily negates any minuscule personal efforts at being any sort of instrument for the betterment of all that they may imagine they are in whatever they call that clouded cuckoo land they call a mind.
People love to believe to lies, especially ones own. There is nothing on Fox News that a Wall St investor doesn't bankroll first. There is no warfare against the least that an investor hasn't donated for. There are no attacks against our democracy, our individual rights or even the very environment that our wildlife and future generations will not survive the loss of that they don't advance with each dollar in the hands of CEO's.
