Realistically, of Bernie and Hillary's proposed agendas

what could they reasonably hope to get accomplished during the next four-year Presidential term? I was thinking about this while watching the debate last night.

I think either could and would win this general election given the Republican freak show we are witnessing. Unfortunately, this current DNC has no strategy to take back the House which will likely remain in GOP control until at least 2022. It's a toss-up whether or not the Senate goes back Democratic, but 52-53 seats there isn't going to get major stuff passed anyway.

All the conversation is interesting to hear, free college, medicare for all, gun control, "take on" Wall Street, break up the banks, etc. Can any of that really happen with a Republican House and less then 60 Democratic votes in the Senate?

I think we could at least see the DOJ and SEC under Bernie/Hillary be tougher on Wall Street and they could do some minor things by executive order possibly.

I see it as more of a long game, get the message out there for 5-10 years, make sure there is a Democrat in office when Scalia, Thomas, or Kennedy need to be replaced, etc. It's certainly not set up for major changes in the next 5-7 years.

Instead we have to hope that whoever our candidate is has some long coattails for progressives to ride in on. we have to hope that their first two years in office either involve booting Goat eyes from the DNC chair, or at least being solid enough to energize progressive voters and candidates.

One who will fight for what is right, rather than compromise. We may not get everything we want/need, but at least it would bring progressive policies into the mainstream. It would allow people to see what we could have and who/what is preventing it. A Sanders victory is going to help democrats down-ticket in the 2016 election, by inspiring a large voter turnout.

Go Bernie!

If he were president he would continue to be a messenger. If the people ultimately adopt the message, there will be significant change.

In the first 2 years, next to nothing at best. I even expect SCOTUS vacancies to go unfilled. Bernie is right, it's going to take a revolution, but the revolution isn't coming in 2016. Hillary is completely delusional if she thinks the Rs will treat her better than Obama. Obama's social agenda accomplishments is impressive which means he didn't leave much on the plate for Hillary. She'll play ball with WS, banksters, and war hawks and they'll undo progressive gains. Bernie will need that revolution in 2018. But in his first 2 years, preventing the 1% from making further gains is about the best we can hope for.
