Hillary intends to continue choosing the flowers and china when POTUS

Why would she want to do that? She specifically said so when asked what Bill Clinton's role would be. She said that she would defer to him on areas where he has lots of presidential experience, and she would continue to choose the flowers and china as she did when she was First Lady.

WTH?

I don't think this debate did her any favors at all. When people start analyzing what was really said in the light of day and sobriety I don't think they will like what she said about working with brutal dictators.

She was so arrogant & pushy in this debate, I'm sure many were turned off by her. Especially, independents.

I think it's one of the more pressing issues we face as a nation: Should the first female POTUS choose flower arrangements and place-settings at official WH functions - or not?

I'm just happy to see these types of nitty-gritty, "kitchen table", important-to-all-Americans issues being discussed - like HRC's hairstyle and her debate outfits, et cetera.

The question becomes: Are we, as a nation, really ready for a president who doesn't have the "correct" hairdo, doesn't dress according to some people's taste, and will decide which china is used at state dinners?

Inquiring minds really DO want to know.

Angela Merkel has managed to survive in office quite nicely without being Heidi Klum or Claudia Schiffer.

And I was just at the White House 9 days ago, browsing through the rooms where all the presidential china from the Washington administration onward was on display. I doubt the course of history will change if Hillary is elected and chooses her own china. Just think of it as an expansion of "a woman's right to choose," and move on.

... that as an avid decorator in all of my own homes, you're damned real that if I were elected POTUS, I would absolutely insist on overseeing china settings and flower arrangements. It would take a Constitutional amendment to stop me from doing so.

I think Hill can handle the latest international crisis-de-jour AND choose the perfect soup tureens without missing a beat.

And it doesn't mean that "there are no peaceful male refugees".

What it means is a recognition that a certain segment of the American population will more readily "accept" widows, orphans and the elderly - so let's get THEM in first, because we can do so with a minimum of outrage from that certain segment of the population.

It's a smart move - and HRC isn't the only one who has suggested it. I've seen that same proposal from others on the topic - because it's common sense.

... are perceived by some as being "more likely" to be terrorists than widows, children, or the elderly.

So the idea is to let in the people who are - in some quarters - the "least objectionable" while that window of opportunity is open and they are less likely to be challenged.

I rather suspect people on the White House staff, who are very good at this kind of thing, will be bringing two or three recommendations to someone on her staff. Then her staff will choose something and ask her if it's okay. If she has any particular yeanring for peonies that week, she'll request them.

Huma will go and pick out three options for Hillary to choose from, and then Hillary will spend about 2 minutes and 27 seconds making a decision. Crisis of having Bill choose the china averted.

And she KNOWS this.

Each First Spouse brings their own skillset to the table. It's not like they get paid for their time--they should at least pay them the minimum wage, IMO!!

It's not like she doesn't know the damn china after eight years on the job, either. I think Michelle Obama got a new set of luncheon ware, and Laura might have added some dinner dishes.

It's not hard to say "Use the Nancy Reagan Red stuff--that'll go over well since we're honoring the Chinese delegation" or something like that. She's not going to be poring over patterns for days.

WTH, indeed? Why CAN'T she do this? What would she do if she were a widow?
