It is easy to see why Sanders is ahead of O'Malley

O'Malley is not as liberal as Sanders. He's not as charismatic. He's very robotic. He has executive experience, but people don't seem to care.

If something happens to Hillary, Sanders is the go to guy, not O'Malley.

Best thing about him tonight is he provided reasons for HRC and Bernie to bond over how annoying he was. A good guy, but time for him to withdraw.

And I kind of agree. O'Malley seems to be taking up space. He seemed to be eating some of Sanders support recently, but he's still in the single digits.

Flailing about, punching at everybody. I especially doubt millenials see much difference between his age and HRC's and Bernie's.

He's a great guy, I don't think he's serving himself well. This is not his year. Not his fault.

They both speak out against the TPP. The network conglomerates don't want criticism on that because they not only support it, they helped draft portions of it. Clinton is the candidate they support.

I think he's a perfectly fine candidate. And his supporters are some of the most positive and gracious people on DU.

But it doesn't look like he has any real chance, unless Clinton and Sanders are both abducted by aliens.

He made me proud to live in Maryland when he was the governor here for 8 years. One of the best things he did that emotionally impacted me the most was ending the death penalty in this state. I have always been against the death penalty, and I could not believe he got this done. Made me cry with happiness. Maryland was also one of the early states to pass same sex marriage, we had the top public schools in the Country for 8 years, he made a big difference in cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay (stopping businesses from polluting it) - the list is too long for me to remember tonight, but I can assure you he made this state proud.

Seriously, they gave O'Malley limited time tonight. He tried to cram everything in for the limited amount of time he got.

I support Bernie, but I feel that OMalley got short shrift, and I think he has good things to say.

11. Was there any breakdown of time alloted to each candidate tonight?
Sun Dec 20, 2015, 01:05 AM

In the PBS first debate the breakdown was as follows:

Clinton - 31:30
Sanders - 27:40
O'Malley - 16:51
Webb - 15:25
Chafee - 8:51

It felt like tonight the disparity was even worse. Does anyone have figures on speaking breakdown?

time for him to run again (assuming we have an incumbent in 2020).

I think this is a trial run for him. He will have more experience at it than anyone else on our side the next time out. No matter what happens, Hillary and Bernie won't run again unless she/he are the incumbent.

...he's not only 'as liberal' as Sanders, he has a solid record of progressive accomplishments on almost every important issue facing America today.

The 'robotic' criticism is pure nonsense. i actually like his warm smile and easygoing manner. he speaks of love and compassion often on the campaign trail and he wears his heart and compassion on his sleeve.

Stick to promoting your own candidate unless and until you bother to actually get to know the man. I really don't think any O'Malley supporter here has attacked the character of the other candidates, and I think it's a glass house in which you're throwing your stones.
