2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThis is intended to be APOLITICAL: Hillary Clinton is fucking BRILLIANT
We can argue policy, trustworthiness, suitability for office, but no one can argue that she is intelligent beyond compare. Listen to her in any debate and you have to be in awe at her command of facts, even the most arcane of them.
Lest you think this is a pro Clinton post, disabuse yourself of that. I will vote for Clinton OR Sanders, without reservation. Period.

(9,083 posts)But it won't touch her, so she doesn't really give a crap. No empathy for those whose spouses, children and other relatives go to fight. It's damn good for defense contractors though, so it's A-OK!

She is repulsive and I refuse to vote for her for that reason among many others.

(85,996 posts)...filibustering with Obama admin policy comes off like a state dept. press conference. It's mind-numbing, and I think, deliberately so.
We get it, she's for the status quo and doesn't agree that we need to take a different direction in foreign policy.
Gloria
(17,663 posts)you might learn about how it takes time to put the nuts and bolts together, ie, her 2012 plan just getting traction now in 2015 at the U.N.
But Sanders....he's just going to TELL people what has to be done...He sounds like TRUMP....the same simplistic bellowing
bigtree
(85,996 posts)...not denying that it 'takes time,' but reasonable people can certainly disagree on the substance of Obama policy and Hillary's defense of those efforts.

Terrorism is a problem we will deal with
Sanders is correct - Jobs - healthcare - banking - ENVIRONMENT
These are the issues that will have more direct impact on us
WAR WAR WAR - it is not the answer - It is not even the most important question

(1,061 posts)The only things Hillary's experience seems to be good for is perfecting how to talk out of both sides of her mouth, engaging in the politics of personal destruction and other aspects of her ruthless pursuit of power that remind one of what a Karl Rove might do. That kind of person ought not to be the Democratic nominee.
Your words.

However. .it does seem like the poster thought better of it and amended. I guess we all are the better on the end.

BTW, his thing about more taxes on the middle class ....ages ago, this was brought up....so, it's out there now.
And, this bit about health care at the state level....Clinton is right.....with a GOP governor, what will happen to how health care dollars are spent??
She speaks reality....

(3,580 posts)In fact all 3 of them were well versed in a variety of topics compared to the GOP debates. While I support HRC and with each debate I feel more confident in her becoming the next president, I would vote for either of the other 2 with no hesitation.

(458 posts)HRC kept coming back to how everyone on stage was so much different than the Repubs... SHE needs to make the case that SHE is different ... Sanders and O Malley don't.
As for brilliance... she is just stuffed with carefully crafted, practiced and vetted talking points. She is an over-rehearsed student. She knows how to deflect uncomfortable questions, but Martha called her out on that more than once.
HRC produces a litany of carefully crafted answers designed to appeal to progressives without unsettling her donor base. That contributes to the sense of her being a political windsock.
Sanders doesn't have to rehearse or practice, he is just there with genuine answers. There is s shifty and a disingenuous quality to HRC's answers which explains her high untrustworthiness ratings. Again, she has to answer to a donor base that has different priorities than the people she is trying to persuade.
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)Sorry.
The Iraq war speech and vote were not the acts of a brilliant person.
Being in the bottom 47% when it comes to marriage equality is the opposite of brilliant.
Insisting for 5 months that she would not turn over her server when it was obvious that she would have no other choice was not brilliant.
Spending weeks insisting that she had run with her head down from snipers in Bosnia was much closer to insane than it was brilliant.
Yes, she can argue well. She is a trained lawyer, that is what they do. That does not make her brilliant.
I'm not that impressed.
Lest you think this is an anti-Clinton post, disabuse yourself of that. I will vote for Clinton or Sanders or O'Malley without reservation. Period.
