2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThat data was dressed too sexily to be ignored.
Anyone would have gone after it. It shouldn't have exposed itself that way.
No wonder those staffers went after it. Sheesh!

people are abandoning basic principles just to defend Bernie staffers because they are part of his campaign.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)It was staffers. I'm guessing Bernie Sanders is pretty pissed off about it, too. He's made no comment on this, as far as I know. We'll hear more about how he feels tonight, I think.
I'm betting others lose their jobs, in the end, over this.

(146,317 posts)Actually, it's just me who is doing that, and sarcastically, at that. It's all about victim blaming, you see. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear enough for you.

(45,251 posts)Your OP trivializes rape and is nauseating.
Also nauseating, the lengths you will go to in order to smear Sanders, whom you once claimed to support.

(146,317 posts)Access to the national data has already been restored, which is what the suit demanded.

(45,251 posts)You should stop attempting to play lawyer. Every time I've seen you do it, you only expose how little you know about legal matters and embarrass yourself.

(45,251 posts)In your shoes, I'd stop.

(146,317 posts)Here's something to consider, though: The Sanders campaign will withdraw their suit next week. That's my prediction. If they do not, it will be dismissed.

(45,251 posts)The court is not going to dismiss the case without the participation of the plaintiff. I keep trying to warn you off bs ing about law. Please listen.

(146,317 posts)As far as I know, Bernie Sanders has yet to say anything personally about this incident. I could be mistaken, since I have't gone searching this morning, but nobody has posted his comments that I've seen. I'm sure he'll have something to say tonight, though. I'll be watching the debate closely, as always.
Clearly I am comparing only victim blaming in this post. Rape is a far more heinous crime than peeking into someone else's data, of course. In both cases, though, there is a victim and a perpetrator. Blaming the victim is such a commonplace that the comparison is a natural one.

(32,623 posts)Hard to maintain the high moral ground if he won't acknowledge his responsibility for his employees. He could afford a little graciousness here.
And I find the victim blaming comparison apt.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)If he has, I hope someone will link to it.
It will come up in the debate. Maybe he's waiting for that to make a statement. It should be interesting.

(42,862 posts)It has obviously touched a nerve based on the discomfort expressed throughout. You've held up a large mirror and people don't like what they see ... so they blame the mirror or the person holding it.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)There's too much of it, and it's always an ugly approach to anything. Is it a disturbing analogy? Of course it is. I drew the comparison deliberately, since everyone here agrees that it is wrong when it comes to cases of rape. In other circumstances, though, apparently it's OK to blame the victim.
I see that as hypocritical, hence my post.

(27,787 posts)... as a teen I worked in a cemetery. And I serviced a few thousand funerals. And I laughed more during that job than at probably any other.
And I think from that I learned to find the humor in almost any situation.

(4,805 posts)Fine line and the OP crossed it but, then you just HAD to go that one step further ... and it got silly. Thanks
