2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPlease be ready for Hillary to show up at tomorrow's debate...
...wearing pastels and sporting a soft hairstyle while she gives a sugary speech about about how she feels bad for Bernie and doesn't agree with the DNC.
She'll try to muster a "Oh, the poor dear" look on her face. It will be the performance of a lifetime.
She'll wax poetic about how this is unfair to Bernie as she parlays this fiasco into an opportunity to leverage herself.
She'll stress party unity. Compassion. Playing fair. Whatever talking points she and her PR flacks decided would be optimal.
Bernie will be tired, stressed out and and running on one hour of sleep--because he's worried about letting his supporters down. Hillary will have slept like a rock--knowing that she can orchestrate chaos in the Sanders campaign with her cohort DWS--inflict horrendous damage and in the end--use it all to end up smelling like a rose in front of a national audience.
Because that's what these people do. That's who they are.

(1,732 posts)Who supported the Iraq invasion and who didn't?
Nyan
(1,192 posts)After royally fucking things up on Iraq and Libya.
Why do u think people chose a guy "with no foreign policy experience"? Because he voted against Iraq War.
So don't tell me about foreign policy.
Don't forget Syria.

I appreciate you trying to make your talking points stick, but they're a load of crap.

(12,689 posts)This is quite evident, yet it seems to get overlooked by many.

(10,126 posts)If Hillary can lie like that, her answers on foreign policy are forever suspect. At least Bernie can be relied upon to give an honest answer. Foreigners are like us - they don't like people lying to them.
When the Iraq war vote came up, which of the two had the right answer?
Who passed on branding Boko Haram as terrorists?
etc.
Bernie has a pretty common sense view on foreign policy - stop getting mixed up in other country's business. It's far cheaper so spending is on things needed on American soil and a lot fewer young Americans get killed or disabled in combat in foreign countries.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
"wearing pastels and sporting a soft hairstyle"
This is as sexist as it gets
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Dec 19, 2015, 12:38 AM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This was an abuse of the flagging system and using sexism (which is a real problem) weakens legitimate claims of sexism.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Coffee Cat is entitled to her opinion and we are in a closely contested primary. Blood runs high on both sides. Post is edgy but not over the top. Leave it.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Sexist, over the top bashing of our top Democratic candidate.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerter, get over yourself. Unlike the firewall, this post should stay up. Feel the Bern.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The accusation by the alerter that stating that the beginning of this post is "as sexist as it gets" is way off the mark. A person's appearance during a debate is just one part of the entire performance that influences an audience member's overall feelings about a candidate.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)Sexist? Seriously.
I guess I'm in good company, because the Clinton camp accused Bernie of being sexist too.
Me (a middle-aged, stay-at-home mom) and Bernie. Raging sexists.
My husband will find that interesting.
So, what happens when one of your posts is alerted? I've never had a post hidden, after 21,000+ posts.
Fantastic Anarchist
(7,309 posts)... but it was a 5-2 in favor to leave it alone. So, I'm glad you don't have to find out.
I was juror six, and though I've never voted to hide a post (goes against my principles), I definitely wasn't going to do so now. The alert was just plain silly.

(24,411 posts)...but no.
I don't think it's funny. At all.
I think Hillary Clinton is the worst Presidential candidate our party has ever offered to its members.
I think she's self serving. I think she and DWS orchestrated this entire episode. And I think that the final chapter of this bad drama will culminate with Hillary parlaying this into a marketing opportunity for herself, with a national debate audience watching.
She and DWS are probably wishing now that they had scheduled the debate during a time when more than 10 people will be watching.
Dem2
(8,168 posts)...can I assume that the person fired by Bernie's campaign was actually an HRC campaign plant?
Why the heck *shouldn't* she use this to her advantage if she can get away with it without seeming petty?

(1,192 posts)She might go on a full attack mode. Her campaign's statement was so hostile (and quite laughable).
Remember, she accused Bernie of being sexist. She might actually try to seize this opportunity to attack him, saying how shocked she is.

(46,585 posts)It appears DWS/HRC miscalculated on this bullshit scheme. The internet has exploded and swear to write in Bernie's name in the GE should he not win the nomination. Well done, ladies. Brava. LOL.

DWS/Hillary foolishly believed they could use allegations of a misdemeanor to railroad and destroy his campaign. All they succeeded in doing was give him free publicity and expose themselves as corrupt..

CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)...to look at Clinton's proprietary campaign data.
And yes, the DNC absolutely is an arm of the Clinton campaign. How could anyone possibly think otherwise?
The entire Clinton campaign strategy is inextricably intertwined with DNC tactics. Have you been paying attention to the ridiculous lack of debates?
DWS ran Clinton's 2008 campaign.
BlueCheese
(2,522 posts)But Sanders' national data director is definitely part of his campaign. If he did something, it's fair to say the Sanders campaign did something.

(23,720 posts)It was a long tough day, but the DNC relented lest other crap float to the surface. Sander's won this fight.

(3,366 posts)A vague statement about data security and a comment along the lines of "Sanders didn't cheat, as far as I know" (as in: Obama isn't a Muslim, as far as I know).
She will carefully overpronounce her words, and look back & forth without meeting anyone's eyes.
She always seems to be looking over people's heads when she talks, but this is ridiculous. There is no balcony in this room.

(5,704 posts)You already know she will be going after Mr. Sanders worst than she did President Obama. This is her last chance to become the President of the US. She can smell it but am not sure if she will get elected. Depends who is the nominee of the GOP side, if it is Trump, he will go crazy on her. I prefer her than a republican!
Betty Karlson
(7,231 posts)Vote: maybe. But never trust her.
Clinton is a follower, not a leader. She plays every dirty trick from the GOP favorite book "how to ruin democracy and get away with it". And her sponsors give me nightmares.
