Her latest visit came on the day the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade, so, the Democratic front runner was talking taxes and national security at a Town Hall event in Iowa City.
Mrs. Clinton greeted supporters at the Historic Old Brick Church in Iowa City with a familiar Democratic theme.
That we begin to ask the wealthy to pay more, to pay their fair share, in order to invest in America, she said.
The former Secretary of State delivered opening remarks and took questions from the audience in the historic Iowa City church.
One man asked her about the fear of Muslims sweeping the nation, and how best to defeat the terrorist organization, ISIS.
She told the crowd, "I have a plan that I've been outlining on how to take on ISIS. How to defeat them, and how to do it without sending American combat troops to the region, which I will not do." That statement drew applause from the crowd.

(70,220 posts)important part--IMHO. We have always invested in the common good--like education, infrastructure. etc. I hope that spirit can be instilled once again. I do think for many it is laying dormant -but still within us.

(39,909 posts)Can't be sure though...she "evolves" and "devolves" so often and so quickly that one never knows from one day to the next.
She has certainly flipped from her 2008 position, or so she says today.

I don't see how anyone can believe a word she says. On top of that she went along with the Republican mantra of "tax cuts create jobs". Grover Norquist appproved:
"It basically gave money to corporations in return for corporate contributions," says Bob McIntyre, director of Citizens for Tax Justice. As for the law's name, McIntyre says that Congress was "just kidding." One of the few groups that believes the legislation has led to the creation of jobs is the American Shareholders Association, a spinoff of Americans for Tax Reform, led by conservative activist Grover Norquist.
Then the Bushies used the increase in revenues from the 5% tax to claim that the other Bush tax cut increased revenues when, in reality, it was due to money repatriated under the discount rate.
No thanks, not buying it.
