As a delegate for Obama in his first election I have an observation

On a winter night out here in Western Colorado, not a liberal stronghold, a group of 50+ people braved a snow storm to show up to caucus for our favorite candidate. For years the excitement over the possible election of the first woman to become President was all that excited we few Democrats in light of the Bush debacle. Two years prior an upstart from Chicago had re-ignited our more progressive leanings and our deep seated liberal natures; these thoughts had time to stew.
As we gathered, organized, and started to have discussion one surprising element arose. There actually was support for this fine young man from Chicago, and not just for his fine speech; the support came from our re-ignited conviction that we could make our world a better place and that this was our mission.
Before long it became surprisingly obvious that Obama had the majority of our support. The Hillary diehards were astonished, yet somehow understanding of the need for change and elated over the new blood brought into the fight. The newly minted Obama supporters were empowered, and that excitement eventually carried our first black candidate for President to the White House.
The political evolution of our nation responds to the desires and needs our our collective response to history.
Never be surprised by the action of others and always hold true to your heart.
btw--as Democrats we have already won the moral/ethical race and our current world reflects that in all its beauty.
That is all.
