2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs it true that Hillary and her supporters hate the fact that Trudeau won the Canadian election?
Last edited Wed Dec 16, 2015, 07:32 PM - Edit history (2)
Apparently Hillary and her supporters are all over the internet talking about how they hate the fact that Harper lost to Trudeau.
The story is even on the front page of this website and it got over 170 recs.
Is this true? Are Hillary supporters mad that Trudeau won? I haven't seen any Hillary supporters saying they're mad that Trudeau won.
There's no way a post can get over 170 recs if it's built on a lie.
Right?

The People ... a different set of people ... are making their voices heard. Bernie's campaign would seem to be more in line with them.

(17,126 posts)I love Bernie. I've donated to Hillary as well. I'll support her enthusiastically if she's the candidate. I saw Harper as Little Bush, and the picture of Justin Trudeau welcoming the refugees warmed my heart.
I am hoping that Trudeau's victory will be a harbinger of enlightened electoral results on the USA side of the border. I'm old enough to remember Pierre Elliott Trudeau, and I'm looking forward to more of the same from Justin Trudeau.
By the way, the anti-Hillary harpies love to carp about "no dynasties" in the White House. I haven't seen them complaining about a "Trudeau dynasty." A bit of a double standard here, no?
Your accusation is total unadulterated bullshit.
I'll join the chorus of posters demanding links to reliable sources where Hillary and her supporters blah blah blah . . .

But it seems like only the ones posted by Bernie supporters ever get locked for some strange reason.
*note to jury: this is an opinion/contains no personal attacks/no posters were harmed as a result of this post
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)So that's not true. I think it just depends on the host. I think TexasTowlie is the only one who does it after a long considered host debate in the host forum.
Just have a consensus, lock the meta talk about supporters of any candidate.

(57,349 posts)Why was this thread locked for meta but not the op's?:

The only "Beware of" post that got locked? Was a post making fun of the "Beware of" posts! You can't make this up. Making fun of the "Beware of" meta BS is too meta for the hosts' liking!

But it'd be nice while I had the position.
To be sure, "disruptive meta-discussion is forbidden" would allow me to do what I want with meta bullshit with impunity and Skinner would either back it up or remove that rule from the forums.

I was thrilled to see Trudeau force Harper out of office after almost ten years of "draconian" rule. Trudeau will be good for Canada and good for relations with the United States.
My family up there are equally happy for Trudeau and Canada.

(110,159 posts)Ridiculous. And simply insulting Clinton supporters with no fact, proof or evidence. Such an extreme comment. And no one has ever heard this accusation on du by Clinton supporters.
Yet, Cali, are you telling me that absurdly incorrect and offensive OP, created only for the purpose if insulting fellow Du'ers on this site, really received 175 recommends?
That is truly outstanding a person can make such a baseless accusation toward so many members, and 175 applauds the factless insults.

(24,544 posts)These are people who were howling mad that their multiple voting in every online poll they come across has barely made a dent in Sanders' national support. These are people CONVINCED with a capital C that Cornell West joining Sanders campaign would increase his black support. And these are people who think that running around Facebook and Twitter insulting and harassing everyone who isn't calling Hillary Clinton El Diablo is helping their candidate.
Despite their best and Lord knows UNENDING efforts to tear Clinton down, her lead and advantage has only grown. The bile has isolated them from every decent, thinking Sanders supporter and the majority of O'Malley supporters as well from what I can tell too. So let them spew. It doesn't seem to be making a bit of difference either way.
