2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI don't care which candidate DUers vote for in the primaries.
DU won't decide who the nominee is. The voters in each primary state will do that.
We'll know who that nominee will be on March 2, 2016. Vote as you think best if you have a primary before then.

(114,904 posts)no matter how mundane it is? Seems that way. Over and over again. This hardly earth shattering wisdom. I'm quite certain that we all know that the nomination won't be decided on DU.

(146,319 posts)I suppose we could compare the number of OPs each of us posted, but I can't see how that's really relevant to anything. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my mundane post.

They can hide thread or ignore.
If you want to make 10,229 OPs a day, that is your right.

(13,877 posts)perspective...then up for discussion. Is it a rule that one need quote some source for their opinion...inferring that we don't have opinions that are important? Also, not everyone spends massive time on DU, which brings to mind the scolding that someone gets with a link that has already been posted.
I'm just the opposite because I hate having a thread fall off...I've tried a couple of times.
And this comment..."hardly earth shattering wisdom" and "we all know that the nomination won't be decided on DU" or "mundane?... smacks of a fair amount of superiority. That same inference for which the OP is called out for.

(418 posts)the house is where all taxes originate. Who is going to pick up the mantle of the socialist and raise taxes on the rich - 90% where they were during the Eisenhower years. Think think think.

(418 posts)In today's world a Muslim pushing a socialist agenda may have an uphill battle getting Republican support. Without saying would should or could, what % chance does Keith have for success?

(30,481 posts)It looks like we have a good chance to go into the General with an extremely unified party. Democrats seem to be unifying around Clinton. Meanwhile, the republicans are experiencing a civil war of sorts.
MineralMan
(146,319 posts)election results, I think. Campaigns take so long these days. Until there is actual voting, we really don't have a lot to talk about, so there's a lot of wasted words. Just over a month from now, we'll start having actual results to discuss.

(13,877 posts)Oligarchy. Please forgive the repetition of the word, and it sticks in the craw of many, but it's fast becoming more relevant than ever.
We have an Oligarch running for President and her daughter is next in line. Political name, power, a hedge fund player, as is her husband, and we've watched her grow up since Bill.
And the Bushes have their next political offering standing by, probably John Ellis Bush, Jr.
Bernie could stop the hemorraging.
artislife
(9,497 posts)That would merit votes. If I see anything to do with tthat chappy foundation I will laugh.

(13,877 posts)in the GE it's going to bite the Clintons. Chelsea and hubby are 1%ers/Oligarchs.

(13,877 posts)or my focus. Both sides dissing the other... we'd better let some "sleeping dogs lie" here pretty soon. We're going to come to a Kum By Ya Moment after the Primary.
Vote your conscience in the Primary, don't badmouth others who may not see it the same way. Share your reasons for discussion while doing our best to rally with honor for our guy/gal in the meantime.
Most important do not withhold (vote Republican) your vote in the GE.
This is what DU means to me...but as I've said, this is my first active primary...and my first post with my new Sig line.

(9,497 posts)I am not convinced of kumbaya..
libdem4life
(13,877 posts)Kumbaya is required for the Nominee. There's only going to be just one emerge as the Nominee. Whoever doesn't agree is either in it to win it, or voting/non voting Republican. Pretty simple.

(9,497 posts)Either it will be a happy vote for the future or it will not.

(146,319 posts)Sometimes our voice is joined by the majority and sometimes is is not. I still remember the 1968 election. That was not one of the good presidential election years. Not in any way.

(11,916 posts)Whomever it is that wins the Democratic nomination. DU will be a much more pleasant place when we can all be on the same side again.
Can't wait until the 2nd week in March. I didn't say the first week because I fully expect the pissing contests to continue for a bit after the nomination, but at some point, DU will be back to the support system that we were all looking for when we joined.
MineralMan
(146,319 posts)We're going to all need to work together on GOTV and other efforts for the general election. We must win this one. If we do not, the damage that will be done has the potential for disaster.
I'm all in for the 2016 election. I hope everyone will be.

(16,685 posts)Policy for the benefit of big money donors and lobbyists at the expense of the public good, health insurance companies on the public dole, charter schools, trade policy that actually does harm to the middle and working classes, and saber-rattling over diplomacy then we will never be on the same side. Ever.

(11,916 posts)My vote, or absence of a vote, will not be going to support the Republican party in any way, shape, or form.
My primary vote will go to Bernie.
ibegurpard
(16,685 posts)I was talking about WHAT you support
woodsprite
(11,916 posts)it sounds like we'd be on the same side.
I support single payer healthcare for all, I support getting corporate money out of elections, I support cutting corporate loopholes in our tax system, penalizing companies that move jobs overseas for cheap labor, hide money offshore so they can avoid taxes, I support rewarding companies who stay in America providing jobs, financial security for employees families, and produce American made goods. I'm for America first and don't believe we should be funding foreign governments and foreign military before we take care of our own homeless and veterans. I support public schools both through money donations, voting, and volunteerism, etc. I wish we had never entered into the trade agreements that broke the middle class. I support hiring the right person for the job and equal pay for equal work. I support progressives wherever I can in local government and elected positions, and try to get others to support them as well.

(26,549 posts)When you make a series of posts trying to convince DUers to vote for Clinton, you demonstrate that you do care.
MineralMan
(146,319 posts)are looking for the primaries. I'm not really trying to get people to do anything. I'm just looking at what's out there and what the trends indicate.
Yes, I'm voting for Hillary at my precinct caucus. So what? My vote doesn't affect you. You have your own mind and will vote as you think best.
Once the primaries are over, there will be a nominee. I'll be working my ass off for that nominee. If it turns out to be Sanders, I'll be surprised, but I'll still be doing the same hard work to get the Democrat elected.
In the meantime, I'm watching all the same things everyone else is watching. I think my prediction of the results will end up being accurate. You may think otherwise. Frankly, neither of us matters much. We'll find out soon enough.
jeff47
(26,549 posts)You have made many posts directly pushing for DUers to support Clinton.
In addition, your sermons on "how politics works" don't literally say "vote Clinton", but make the argument that Sanders or O'Malley are wastes of time.
Then you'll make posts like this one insisting that you're above it all.
Own your actions, instead of pretending to be something you are not.
