The Bernie Sanders campaign released a statement earlier tonight targeting the corporate media for not giving Sanders the coverage he deserves.
A recent study on media coverage of all the candidates found that not only is it dominated by Donald Trump, but he himself is getting far more coverage than Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and Martin OMalley combined.
The study focuses on campaign coverage from the major nightly newscasts, and during this entire election season (up to the end of November), Trump has gotten 234 minutes on the nightly news, Clinton has gotten 113 minutes, and Sanders has only gotten 10 minutes.
That led the Sanders campaign to release a statement titled Why the Bernie Blackout on Corporate Network News?
Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said, The corporately-owned may not like Bernies anti-establishment views but for the sake of American democracy they must allow for a fair debate in this presidential campaign. Bernie must receive the same level of coverage on the nightly news as other leading candidates.

(38,613 posts)At a recent investors presentation, CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves revealed his hand: Donald Trumps bigotry is phenomenal for the companys profits and ratings, and he hopes the Donald keeps escalating.
Go Donald! Keep getting out there! Moonves said at the UBS Bank-sponsored event.
The CBS chief went on to laud the ever-increasing flow of cash into political advertising campaigns as great for business, saying, The more they spend, the better it is for us.
Were looking forward to a very exciting political year in 16, Moonves said to investors. The Intercept noted that these remarks came before Trumps call to ban all Muslims from the US, although Moonves still likely saw a boost in ratings from Trumps outlandish proposals to register all US Muslims in a database and require practitioners of Islam to publicly identify their religious affiliation, along with Trumps racist comments toward Mexican immigrants when he first announced his presidential campaign.

(94,679 posts)Sanders folks have been arguing for months that the "corporate" media is hiding Sanders' message to protect their corporate allies. This says the obvious: media reports on things that people want to hear about and watch, because that gets them an audience.
