2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGeorge Takei spreads a little love for Bernie: "For those who #FeelTheBern, some welcome news."
He posted this link about Sen. Bernie Sanders getting the backing of the Working Families Party, a nationwide coalition of labor and progressive groups. This is one of his biggest endorsements to date in his quest to become the Democratic presidential nominee.

(4,211 posts)That also means before Bernie announced. If Bernie hadn't announced, I would have chosen hillary as well...lesser of the evils and all that. But circumstances have changed. I haven't seen a single pro hillary comment from him since Bernie decided to run. Plenty of pro Bernie posts though.
Lastly, saying that of course he'd choose hillary over crazy is not exactly an endorsement. It's merely stating the obvious.

They go back a ways. You dance with the one what brung you.
There's a reason for that "those who" language he is using--he's not one of "those who," but -- because he is a decent man -- he's not going to mock or deride those who are and he's going to be respectful of their candidate choice. Wouldn't it be nice if more people would take a cue from him?
But bottom line is this--he's in Clinton's corner. Always has been, always will be. They go back to the nineties together.

(15,189 posts)He brung himself way before we even heard of Bill and Hillary. He's not riding on his husbands coattails so to speak. He did it all by himself. They used his celebrity.
MADem
(135,425 posts)He was very happy to get that appointment, and he did a lot of good with it. It provided him with a platform upon which to prosecute his POV about internment, which he endured as a child, and culminated quite recently in his wonderful play on the topic, which I hope becomes a film.
They have helped one another down the years, and they genuinely like each other. GT has given speeches on behalf of the CF and has donated to that organization as well. They're on the same page, much as that might disappoint some.
Hillary has more years of federal experience than her husband has. So what was that about "coattails?"
smh. Keep denigrating, though--it won't change a thing save serve to underscore the abject disappointment down the line.

Make no mistake, though, what he said regarding Clinton was very positive! It's just that his comments since Bernie announced aren't consistent with his comment at that time.

Bubzer
(4,211 posts)But to claim he's endorsing Clinton based on a comment and actions from well over a year ago is absurd. Particularly in light of George repeatedly saying some very nice things about Bernie, and virtually nothing about hillary. So, unless you can show where he says "I endorse hillary" or "I still endorse hillary" since both she and Bernie started the campaign trail, please just stop.

Were Hillary supporters from way back, Takei said at an appearance in Washington. (Were refers to both Takei and his husband, Brad.) The actor added that he would absolutely vote for Clinton if she decided to runall this knowingly in the face of the several points of which Republicans are prime to attack the former Secretary of State.

(9,497 posts)That was an old style of learning, by rote.
However....
Experts generally agree that to a certain point, rote learning is important and necessary. For instance, students need to memorize things such as the alphabet and how to spell words. On the other hand, when it comes to proper grammar usage, it is much more important to understand the concepts and principles than simply memorizing a series of complicated rules. Students also need to learn basic math such as their multiplication tables by rote, but they also need to understand more advanced concepts in order to solve more complex mathematical problems. Thus, rote learning builds the foundation so students can learn more difficult concepts, and this is the biggest "pro" of this method of instruction.

(4,211 posts)"If Hillary Clinton decides to make a second run for president", meaning she hadn't announced yet... meaning also, Bernie had not announced yet. This is still just a case of stating the obvious; of course all dems would vote for her over crazy, if she was the only dem running.
