Report: ABC World News Tonight Has Devoted 81 Minutes To Trump, One Minute To Sanders

Report: ABC World News Tonight Has Devoted 81 Minutes To Trump, One Minute To Sanders

Does that ratio seem out of whack? That's the ratio of TV airtime that ABC World News Tonight has devoted to Donald Trump's campaign (81 minutes) versus the amount of TV time World News Tonight has devoted to Bernie Sanders' campaign this year. And even that one minute for Sanders is misleading because the actual number is closer to 20 seconds.

For the entire year.

That's the rather stunning revelation from the Tyndall Report, which tracks the various flagship nightly news programs on NBC, CBS and ABC. The Report's campaign findings cover the network evening newscasts from January 1 through the end of November.

The results confirm two media extremes in play this year, and not just at ABC News. The network newscasts are wildly overplaying Trump, who regularly attracts between 20-30 percent of primary voter support, while at the same time wildly underplaying Sanders, who regularly attracts between 20-30 percent of primary voter support. (Sanders' supporters have long complained about the candidate's lack of coverage.)

I don't have an issue with Trump getting 81 minutes - not at all. He is a nutbag and the media is going to cover nuts in chocolate. However, the fact that Sanders only received less than 1 minute is in no way respectable journalism.

...moved up to 2nd place.

"Republican Jeb Bush received 56 minutes of coverage, followed by Ben Carson's 54 minutes and Marco Rubio's 22."

Since Ben Carson was in 2nd place to Trump for the longest, Bernie Sanders should have gotten 54 minutes instead of ten minutes if rank is the criteria.

The time each received was time allotted for political coverage.

Bernie Sanders has spent 40 years building his reputation for honesty, consistency and hard work. He has built his campaign on word of mouth and small donors and volunteers, and has produced comprehensive policy papers on his plan to move the country forward.

Donald Trump is a loudmouthed 1%er who has never even run in local politics. He is a part time TV "reality" star when he is not busy filing suits against business partners or declaring bankruptcy again. His idea of a policy discussion is to name another group to deport, or ban, or kill. He believes that this will "Make America Great Again".

And one of our famous "news" organizations finds Trump deserving of over 8000% more coverage than Sanders???

the Trumpet gets most of the coverage because he says such crazy things that actually news worthy. If a candidate does their campaign in the traditional fashion, speaking of what they're for & against, it's not news. If one of them continually says things that have historically sunk the campaigns of many other candidates but this new one keeps going up in the polls, that's NEWS!

A similar thing happened when the info on Romney's closed meeting where he talked about the % of people who would NEVER support him. EVERY news channel and talking head discussed that for months!

I don't want Bernie or Hillary to start saying crazy stuff just to get TV time!
