2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum41% v. 27% find Sanders honest/trustworthy (+13%); 31% v. 53% find Clinton honest/trustworthy (-24%)
That's among all voters in today's YouGov/Economist internet poll.
Among Independents, Sander has an even higher +15% net honest/trustworthy rating, and Clinton has a much lower -32%.
Even among Democrats, Sanders has a higher net +56% (i.e., 68% find Sanders honest/trustworthy and 12% disagree) compared to Clinton's net +25 trustworthiness rating among Democrats (54% find Clinton honest/trustworthy and 29% disagree).
CLINTON FANS - THIS IS NOT GOOD IF YOU WANT HER AS OUR PARTY'S STANDARD BEARER.

(19,877 posts)Since when is it conservative to not want middle class taxes raised?
Armstead
(47,803 posts)Especially since Reagan amped it up.
No politician wants to be associated with raising taxes, just as nobody really like paying them.
But it's the Republican conservatives who harp on that, and pounce on their opponents as "tax and spend" liberals.

(19,877 posts)"Borrow and waste conservatives".
There is nothing liberal about raising middle class taxes.
Armstead
(47,803 posts)There are times when taxes have to be raised to support necessary services. That's sucks, but it's reality to support government programs -- and also to avoid falling into the "borrow and waste" category.
Liberals don't trumpet that, but they also don't deny it, and certainly don't use it as a political weapon against opponents.

(24,411 posts)That's not exactly fighting for the middle class.
Bernie and O'Malley have both said they would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
What specifically would Hillary do to raise middle-class wages? I haven't heard one good idea. Sounds like one of those amorphous promises that means nothing.
JaneyVee
(19,877 posts)She has always been an advocate of higher wages. And her position is $12/hr - $15/hr for cities and other high cost of living areas.

(30,439 posts)You mean Bernie is such a crappy candidate that he's getting killed by someone who isn't considered honest and trustworthy?
Doesn't that mean Bernie must be a poor candidate?
It means there's a lot of bullshit being stirred up around here, Actually

People on the right don't like Hillary and that is a given. They hate the name Clinton as do some here.
They won't vote for her no matter what.

(7,231 posts)to ignore this relevant information. 9/11, a gender, and socialist socialist socialist. Also racist* and sexist supporters.
* Not the ones Clinton had in 2008, obviously. Just the ones who refuse to cast a primary vote for the candidate sponsored by the prison industry, which negatively and disproportionately impacts communities of colour. If you refuse to cast a vote for the candidate who is fine with her prison industry buddies' deep pockets, you are racist. Furthermore, if you focus on poverty rather than terror (tm) and thereby address the issue most pertinent to America's poorest neighbourhoods, you are racist. And sexist.
