On Monday, we asked you to submit your questions for Senator Bernie Sanders. During his visit to the editorial board on Tuesday, he picked one out of a hat. Watch his response to that question below:

Update: Below is a transcript of the senator’s comments:

Bernie Sanders: “Here it is. This from Nick Costantino: ‘Astor, a Martian, knows nothing of the countries of our world, and wishes for you to describe the United States. What do you tell Astor?’

“I tell Astor that the United States has a history that we should be extraordinarily proud of. We have a constitution which is the envy of the world. We are a nation made up of immigrants, people from all over the world who bring so much to our country.

...We’ve got to come together to create in this nation — the wealthiest in the history of the world — a country that works for all people, not just the few on the top.”

For YEARS and years, every Friday around lunch time, you could call to question Senator Sanders during Thom Hartman's "Lunch with Bernie" segment...

There is magnificence to the consistency in his message, untainted by any challenger each moment. This is the way he has led throughout his political career. His interpretation is based on the history and laws of the United States, as someone integral to working within the Democratic party and communicating to all of his contemporaries.

People want the truth and they get it.
